Gen V’s Star Teases Nightwing Role with Hilarious Reaction to DCU Rumors
As fans gear up for the second season of Gen V, all eyes are on Derek Luh, who returns as one half of Jordan Li. Known for his high-energy action sequences on the Amazon Prime superhero series, Luh has sparked fan speculation about a potential role in the DC Universe as Nightwing.
At the Season 2 premiere, he was asked about the rumors by Inverse and had a playful reaction. While noting he couldn’t officially promote other projects, Luh mouthed the words “call me to” at the camera, suggesting he’s open to taking on the role of Dick Grayson in the new DCU.

James Gunn has confirmed that while a few actors from the former DCEU are continuing into the new universe, most heroes and villains will see new faces. This has fueled conversations among fans about who will step into iconic roles, particularly in the Bat-family.
While some hope Alan Ritchson will portray Bruce Wayne, Ritchson himself recently said that he talked to James Gunn and that Batman is likely not in his future, but some other role in the DCU might be.
There’s also a strong desire to see Dick Grayson join the franchise as Nightwing, a fan-favorite character who originally started as Robin.
For Luh, already established in the R-rated world of The Boys and Gen V, playing Nightwing could be a major step for his career. The character never appeared in the previous DCEU, making it an exciting opportunity for both fans and the actor.
Although the DCU has announced plans to introduce a Batman sidekick in the upcoming Gods and Monsters slate, Damian Wayne, Bruce’s son, is currently slated to take that role instead of Grayson.
Even though Nightwing hasn’t officially appeared in the DCU yet, references to his territory, Blüdhaven, have surfaced in Peacemaker Season 2. In the comics, Nightwing oversees the city after leaving Gotham and stepping out from under Batman’s shadow, hinting that the character’s arrival in live-action could be coming eventually.
Luh’s response at the premiere shows he’s aware of the buzz and seems game for the possibility. “Call me to,” he mouthed at the camera, a moment that delighted fans and ignited social media speculation. As the DCU continues to expand with new heroes and storylines, casting decisions for key characters like Nightwing remain highly anticipated.
In my opinion, seeing Derek Luh as Nightwing could bring fresh energy and a new dimension to the DC Universe. Fans are clearly excited, and the character’s inclusion would strengthen the Bat-family’s presence on screen. What do you think about Luh taking on Nightwing? Share your thoughts in the comments.
