Zack Snyder Shares a Look Back at One of His Favorite Shots of Ben Affleck’s Batman

Zack Snyder has been giving fans plenty to talk about on Instagram lately. Since joining the platform a few months ago, the director has shared a steady stream of behind-the-scenes photos from his most popular films.

Many of those posts have focused on his work with DC, including new looks at the world of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

In one of his latest posts, Snyder uploaded a previously unseen photo of Ben Affleck as Batman. The black-and-white shot shows the actor fully suited up as the Dark Knight, capturing the serious and grounded tone that Snyder brought to the character. Along with the photo, Snyder wrote a simple caption: “One of my favorite Batman photos.”

The post quickly caught the attention of fans who have long praised Affleck’s version of Batman.

His take on the role first appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a movie that received mixed reviews from critics but developed a loyal fanbase over time. The film, directed by Snyder, featured a darker and older version of the hero, one that stood out from earlier portrayals of the character.

Affleck later returned as Batman in Suicide Squad and Justice League. However, his time in the DC universe wasn’t always easy. During the production of Justice League, Snyder left the project after a personal tragedy, and Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the film. Reports later surfaced about tension on set and Whedon’s alleged mistreatment of actors. Affleck also spoke openly about struggling with personal issues during that period, calling the experience “difficult.”

After Justice League, Affleck decided to step away from both directing and starring in The Batman, saying he no longer felt connected to the story. “I couldn’t crack it,” he explained in past interviews, admitting that his enthusiasm for the project had faded.

Snyder’s recent post serves as a reminder of the creative partnership between the two and the lasting impact Affleck’s Batman has had on fans. Despite the ups and downs behind the scenes, their collaboration helped shape one of the most talked-about versions of the Dark Knight in modern film.
