DCU Finally Casts Brainiac for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ – Actor Revealed!
DC fans finally know who will play the iconic villain Brainiac in the upcoming Superman film “Man of Tomorrow.”
German actor Lars Eidinger has been cast as the super-intelligent alien android, James Gunn confirmed on Instagram Saturday. Gunn wrote, “In our worldwide search for Brainiac in ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ Lars Eidinger rose to the top. Welcome to the DCU, Lars.”
Brainiac is famous in the comics for his genius-level intellect and ruthless ways. He’s known to shrink planets and store them in glass containers, or destroy them if they don’t meet his standards. Created in 1958 by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino, this film marks the first major DC movie appearance of the villain.
“Man of Tomorrow” will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult return as Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively. The July 9, 2027 release promises to explore a surprising dynamic, as Gunn teased a photo showing Luthor and Superman together, hinting they might team up against Brainiac.
Eidinger is no stranger to high-profile roles. He recently appeared in Noah Baumbach’s awards contender “Jay Kelly” and has credits in “Dead Language,” “The Light,” and “Dying,” which was nominated for best film at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival. The actor is represented by UTA.
This casting comes after Gunn’s successful DC debut with “Superman”, which grossed over $616 million globally, becoming the year’s highest-earning superhero movie.
Casting Lars Eidinger as Brainiac is an exciting move. He brings a unique intensity that could make Brainiac a memorable addition to the DC Universe. It will be interesting to see how Gunn balances the villain’s intelligence and menace with the world-building of the DCU. What do you think about Lars playing Brainiac?
