Margot Robbie is sharing a sweet behind-the-scenes look at her working relationship with Jacob Elordi, revealing how the actor channeled his inner Heathcliff for a grand romantic gesture.

During a recent cover feature for Vogue Australia published on January 20, the two co-stars interviewed each other about their time filming Emerald Fennell’s upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Robbie recalled a specific moment from Valentine’s Day 2025 that left her thoroughly impressed with Elordi’s thoughtfulness. You made my day and, as Heathcliff, filled my room with roses and it was so cute, she told him during the joint interview. The Barbie star noted that the surprise went far beyond a simple floral delivery, incorporating dark, gothic elements that perfectly suited the film’s tone.

I remember thinking on Valentine’s Day, oh he’s probably a very good boyfriend, ’cause there’s a lot of thoughtfulness in this, Robbie added.

She was particularly charmed by the level of detail Elordi put into the surprise, which included a personalized message. It wasn’t just the gesture of the roses, it was the thing written from Heathcliff, and that little tombstone thing. I was like, ah, crafts! Love that. It was crafty, it was meaningful, it was dramatic, she explained.

Despite the grand effort Elordi put into the day, the same could not be said for Robbie’s reciprocation. When she asked what she had done for him in return, the Euphoria actor playfully reminded her of the lopsided exchange. I don’t think you did anything, Elordi teased, to which a mortified Robbie replied, I must have done something.

Elordi joked that his victory in the Valentine’s Day exchange was a deliberate move to outshine his co-star. I think when I did it, I felt like I beat you, he said. Robbie graciously conceded the win, admitting, You definitely beat me. Yours was so epic.

The duo’s off-screen chemistry has been a major talking point as they prepare for the February 13, release of Wuthering Heights. Director Emerald Fennell, known for Saltburn and Promising Young Woman, has reimagined the Emily Brontë classic as a “primal and sexual” gothic romance. The film also stars Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, and Shazad Latif, featuring original songs composed by Charli XCX.

Margot Robbie has been staying busy both in front of and behind the camera, recently attending the 2026 Golden Globes and preparing for her role as the jury president at the upcoming Tropfest short film festival in Sydney. She is also slated to star alongside Colin Farrell in the romantic drama A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which is scheduled for a September 19, release.

Jacob Elordi is currently riding a wave of critical acclaim, having just won Best Supporting Actor at the Critics’ Choice Awards for his role as The Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Aside from Wuthering Heights, he is set to star in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic The Dog Stars later this year and will return for the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria.

The Wuthering Heights press tour is currently in full swing, with the cast expected to make a high-profile appearance at the European premiere at the Grand Rex in Paris on February 2. Given their “mutual obsession” and the rose-filled history of their time on set, fans are eagerly anticipating how the two will celebrate the film’s release over the upcoming Valentine’s Day weekend.
