NBCUniversal’s Peacock is rolling out new features designed for people who watch on their phones, focusing on vertical video and interactive content to keep viewers more engaged.

One of the biggest updates is called “Your Bravoverse,” a hub for Bravo fans. It will help both longtime viewers and new fans follow all the drama, feuds, and storylines from shows like The Real Housewives. At the center of this hub is an AI-generated version of Andy Cohen. The AI avatar will explain past events and the latest updates on Bravo shows. Users will first meet AI Andy through a video from the real Andy Cohen, and anytime the AI speaks, it will be clearly labeled so people know it’s AI.

“We label it generative with AI because we don’t want anyone to think, ‘is that Andy, or is that not Andy?’ I think it’s a version of Andy, is the way to think about it, that is being personalized with AI,” said John Jelley, senior vice president of product and UX for Peacock.

The AI Andy is part of Peacock’s plan to make a huge amount of content easier to follow. “The reason we’re using AI is to create those billions of variants. If we got Andy in a booth, we might be able to create some variants, but creating on a daily basis and a weekly basis this much content that’s relevant to you is really the reason we’re using AI,” Jelley added.

Peacock is also expanding its sports and gaming offerings. NBA fans can watch live games with vertical video and AI-powered camera control, starting with the NBA Courtside Live product. The platform will add more sports in the future based on feedback.

Gaming is another big focus. Peacock will add mobile games like a playable version of Jeopardy! and a new Law & Order game called Law & Order: Clue Hunter. Another game, Public Eye, will launch this summer. These games will be playable directly inside the Peacock app without extra downloads. The gaming content comes from Wolf Games, founded by Elliot Wolf, the son of Law & Order creator Dick Wolf.

Peacock has around 44 million subscribers in the U.S., smaller than competitors like Hulu and Paramount+. Still, the company is focusing on engagement rather than just subscriber numbers. Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, explained: “Most people tend to focus on subscribers as the litmus test. We really focus on time. This is where the battle is going to be.”

Strauss emphasized that all the new features are meant to “super-serve fans, be the home for fandom, and continue to find ways to drive more engagement across all of our content.”

The new updates will first be available on mobile and will eventually come to the Peacock TV app. The goal is clear: make watching Peacock more fun, interactive, and personalized for fans of Bravo, sports, and games.
