Brian Cox To Play the New York Ripper in ‘Dexter Resurrection’ Season 2
Brian Cox is stepping into a chilling new role as a legendary antagonist in the second season of Dexter: Resurrection. The Emmy-winning actor will portray Dom Framt, notoriously known as the New York Ripper, a serial killer who haunted the streets of Manhattan decades prior.
While he has long since ceased his violent activities, Framt has found a disturbing second act by continuing to psychologically torture the individuals who survived his original wave of terror. The connection to this new character was first established in the debut season’s finale, where Dexter Morgan stumbled upon a hidden file.
While searching through the belongings of the season’s primary antagonist, Leon Prater, Dexter discovered a folder identifying Framt as the infamous Ripper. Rather than keeping these documents as trophies, the forensic expert-turned-fugitive kept them as potential targets, setting the stage for a high-stakes confrontation in the upcoming episodes.
The first season of the sequel series picked up shortly after the events in Iron Lake, finding Dexter in a New York City hospital following a near-fatal shooting. After waking from a coma to realize his son, Harrison, had vanished, Dexter embarked on a desperate mission through the city to find him.
His journey was complicated by the arrival of Angel Batista, whose persistent investigation into the Bay Harbor Butcher case threatened to finally expose Dexter’s true history. As father and son attempted to navigate their shared darkness in the bustling metropolis, they found themselves entangled in a web of new threats.
The freshman season featured a star-studded cast, including Uma Thurman as the meticulous head of security, Charley, and Peter Dinklage as the secretive billionaire Prater. Now, with the addition of Cox as a series regular, the narrative is poised to explore the legacy of New York’s own dark history alongside Dexter’s personal evolution.
Outside of the Dexter universe, Brian Cox is currently preparing for his highly anticipated return to the American stage. He is set to star as Johann Sebastian Bach in the U.S. premiere of The Score, directed by Trevor Nunn, which is scheduled to open at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., in September.
Additionally, the actor recently celebrated his feature film directorial debut with the comedy-drama Glenrothan, in which he also stars alongside Alan Cumming. The film, described as a poignant exploration of family and heritage, is slated for a wide theatrical release across the United Kingdom and Ireland on April 17.
As fans wait for more details on the plot of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, the prospect of a showdown between Morgan and the New York Ripper has already become one of the year’s most discussed television developments.
