Nicole Kidman’s first day on set for her new series Margo’s Got Money Troubles turned into a long and difficult shoot that ended with a trip to the hospital, according to comments shared by her co-star Nick Offerman in an interview with PEOPLE.

Kidman, 58, appears in the April 22 episode of the Apple TV+ series as Lace, a former pro wrestler who later becomes a lawyer. The role also marks her debut in the show, where she also works as an executive producer.

Offerman, who plays her old wrestling friend Jinx, explained that Kidman’s first filming day included a large convention scene with hundreds of extras and several action-heavy moments. The production had been carefully planned as a big set piece, and the team only had one day to capture everything.

The morning did not go smoothly. Early in the day, the crew heard that Kidman had come down with the flu, which raised concern that she might not be able to film. But a few hours later, plans changed again when she decided to show up anyway.

Offerman said she arrived despite being very unwell. He described her condition as visibly weak and said she still pushed through the demanding shoot.

He shared, “She was so pale, shaken. She just had the flu really so bad.” Even so, he added that she completed all her scenes without slowing down production and made sure every required shot was finished.

He also said, “She showed up and made sure that we got every shot of her, total superhero style, did everything we needed to so that we did not lose one scrap of what we needed for her character.”

After filming wrapped for the day, the situation took another turn. Offerman said Kidman had to go straight to the hospital for treatment and received an IV.

According to him, “She was literally taken to the hospital for an IV.” He added that her effort on set left a strong impression on the entire team, saying it showed a high level of commitment to the production.

Kidman had trained for the wrestling-based role before filming began. In earlier comments shared with PEOPLE at the show’s premiere, she admitted she was nervous at first about the physical demands and the risk of injury. She later said she relaxed once she stepped into the ring and fully committed to the action scenes.

She also credited her co-star Nick Offerman for helping her through the physical work during filming.

The series itself is based on the novel by Rufi Thorpe and follows a young woman dealing with major life struggles while trying to build a future. The cast also includes Elle Fanning, who plays the lead role, along with several other well-known actors.

Despite the tough start, Kidman has said she enjoyed the experience and even expressed interest in doing more wrestling-related roles in the future.

This story highlights the extreme physical effort actors sometimes go through even for TV projects. It also shows how production schedules can be very strict, leaving little room for delays. At the same time, it raises questions about how far performers should push themselves when they are already sick.
