‘Avengers: Endgame’ Just Smashed a Trailer Record That Nobody Saw Coming, Seven Years After Its Release
Marvel Studios has spent the past several months carefully building anticipation for its next major crossover event, using every tool at its disposal to keep fans engaged before December’s big premiere. Few of those promotional strategies could have predicted just how much appetite still exists for revisiting a film audiences have already watched countless times.
That appetite just revealed itself in staggering fashion, breaking a record that had previously belonged to one of Hollywood’s most beloved cinematic comebacks.
The trailer for ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore‘ has earned 77 million views during its first 24 hours, quadrupling the previous record for any theatrical re-release trailer. According to ScreenRant’s reporting on Deadline’s figures, the previous record holder was 1986’s ‘Top Gun,’ whose 40th-anniversary re-release trailer pulled in 19 million views in its first day back in 2026, a number ‘Endgame Encore’ more than quadrupled on its own.
The gap becomes even more striking when stacked against other major re-release campaigns from the same period. James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ re-release trailer reached 14 million views, while ‘Titanic’s’ return generated 13 million, meaning ‘Endgame Encore’ actually pulled in more views than all three of those combined comeback campaigns put together.
Seven years after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ became one of the highest-grossing films ever released, Marvel Studios is bringing the Infinity Saga finale back to theaters on September 25 with a runtime of 185 minutes, roughly four extra minutes longer than the original 2019 cut. That additional footage was reportedly filmed during production of the film’s upcoming sequel, giving longtime fans a genuine incentive beyond simple nostalgia to revisit the theatrical experience.
Much of the excitement driving these numbers appears directly tied to the re-release’s connection with ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ Marvel’s next major crossover event arriving in theaters on December 18. The ‘Endgame Encore’ release promises an exclusive first look at ‘Doomsday’ footage, along with an additional sneak peek reserved specifically for IMAX and Infinity Vision screens, giving audiences a compelling reason to catch the re-release before the sequel itself arrives just a few months later.
This isn’t the first time an ‘Avengers’ trailer has broken major viewership records, either. Back in 2018, the original ‘Endgame’ teaser set an all-time trailer record of its own, pulling in 289 million views within 24 hours and surpassing the previous benchmark held by ‘Avengers: Infinity War’s’ 230 million views. That history of dominating viewership charts appears to be repeating itself now, even for a film audiences have already had years to watch and rewatch.

With ‘Doomsday’ representing one of the most ambitious crossover events Marvel has ever attempted, bringing together heroes from across the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four corners of the franchise, it’s clear Marvel is leaning heavily on ‘Endgame’s’ emotional legacy to build momentum heading into December. Given how dramatically this trailer has already outperformed every other re-release campaign this year, the theatrical return of ‘Endgame’ looks set to be a genuine box office event in its own right, not just a stopgap before the next big Marvel release.
