‘VisionQuest’ Gives Marvel’s Boba Fett-Inspired Bounty Hunter His Best Look Yet

Todd Stashwick’s Paladin is quickly becoming one of the most interesting new faces in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series ‘VisionQuest.’ While the show will bring Paul Bettany back as Vision and continue several major storylines from ‘WandaVision,’ a new set photo is putting the spotlight on a character who could give the series a very different kind of energy.

The photo, shared by TheDirect, gives fans the clearest look yet at Paladin’s costume. Stashwick can be seen wearing the character’s full armor, including the helmet that has already caught the attention of Marvel fans. Paladin briefly appeared in the trailer shown at D23, but this new image gives a much better idea of what the bounty hunter will look like when he finally appears in the series.

There is already a pretty big comparison attached to the character. When ‘VisionQuest’ showrunner Terry Matalas announced Stashwick’s casting at Star Trek Las Vegas in 2025, he described Paladin as Marvel’s version of a famous ‘Star Wars’ character. According to Gizmodo’s report from the event, Matalas said, “Paladin is a bounty hunter. He’s sort of the Boba Fett of the Marvel Universe.” That description makes a lot more sense now that fans have seen the full costume.

The armor, helmet, and overall look give Paladin a classic bounty hunter feel, but he is not simply a Marvel copy of Boba Fett. Paladin has been part of Marvel Comics for decades and has built a reputation as a mercenary and private investigator. Over the years, he has crossed paths with several major heroes, including Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Luke Cage. ‘VisionQuest’ will mark his first live-action appearance.

Stashwick has also been clearly enjoying the role. The actor has described Paladin as a “badass” character, and his history with Matalas makes the casting even more interesting. The two have worked together before, with Matalas creating roles specifically for Stashwick in some of their previous projects. That relationship could help explain why Marvel chose him for such a different type of character.

Paladin will have an important job in the new series. He is reportedly hunting down Vision, which gives the show a physical threat to go along with its more emotional story. Vision is expected to spend much of the series dealing with questions about his memories, identity, and what exactly he has become after the events of ‘WandaVision.’ Having a dangerous bounty hunter chasing him should keep the story moving while Vision tries to figure himself out.

The show is also bringing back some familiar MCU connections. James Spader will return as Ultron, while several artificial intelligence characters will appear in human form. Orla Brady is returning as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire is playing E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy is back as J.A.R.V.I.S. Ruaridh Mollica will also play Tommy Maximoff, continuing a storyline connected to ‘Agatha All Along.’

More new faces are joining the cast as well. Mary McDonnell has been cast in an undisclosed role, while Lauren Morais will play Lisa Molinari. Diane Morgan is also part of the series and will reportedly appear as someone connected to Paladin. Mick Giacchino is composing the music for the show.

All of this makes ‘VisionQuest’ look like a mix of strange MCU science fiction, family drama, and action. Paladin could be the character who brings the biggest dose of danger to the story. His mission is simple on the surface, but his comic book history leaves plenty of room for Marvel to give him more depth.

‘VisionQuest’ is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 14. With the first trailer and now a much clearer look at Paladin, Marvel is slowly showing what makes this new chapter different. Vision may be trying to understand who he is, but he will have very little time to do it if a heavily armed bounty hunter is already coming after him.
