Rayna Vallandingham Steals the Spotlight in New ‘Street Fighter’ Press Portraits Ahead of Her Debut as Juli
The ‘Street Fighter’ reboot is less than 2 weeks away, and its marketing machine is running at full power. Paramount and Legendary have spent weeks rolling out trailers, cast appearances and photocalls, leaning heavily into the arcade nostalgia that made the Capcom franchise a phenomenon.
For Rayna Vallandingham, the campaign marks her biggest moment yet. The martial arts champion turned actress plays Juli, one of M. Bison’s elite operatives, in a film that represents the third live-action ‘Street Fighter’ feature after the 1994 original and 2009’s ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li’.
Now she’s commanding attention on her own. New studio portraits of Vallandingham for the film’s press push were shared on October 5, showing the ‘Cobra Kai’ star in a striking, edgy look just days after posing alongside co-star Callina Liang.
In both images, Vallandingham wears a slate-blue washed-leather top with strap cutouts and matching bottoms. Her long dark hair falls in loose waves, while a gold hoop earring and a delicate bracelet add subtle shine.
One shot has her staring directly into the camera, while the other captures her glancing over her shoulder against a pale backdrop. The cool tones and confident poses feel like a natural fit for a character known for her lethal precision. In the games, Juli belongs to the Dolls, a team of highly trained fighters known for their skills and loyalty to Bison. She first appeared in ‘Street Fighter Alpha 3’.

The marketing has embraced that menace. Capcom introduced her casting with the tagline “I was made for this,” while a recent theatrical promo declared “Shadaloo Juli reporting for duty.” Vallandingham’s real-life skills make her a natural choice. The role requires authentic martial arts ability rather than choreography learned on set.
Born on January 18, 2003, Vallandingham began training in taekwondo at age 2. In 2011, at just 8 years old, she won 4 world titles in Little Rock, Arkansas, and she went on to become the youngest black belt to collect a dozen world championship titles.

She has also served as a brand ambassador for the American Tae Kwon Do Association. Before her acting breakthrough, she competed on ESPN as the youngest athlete in the 12-14 age group.
Her screen career began with the 2015 indie MMA film ‘Underdog Kids’. Her breakout came in ‘Cobra Kai’, where she played martial arts influencer Zara Malik, a member of the Iron Dragons dojo.

Vallandingham joins a sprawling cast of fighters. Andrew Koji plays Ryu, Noah Centineo plays Ken, Roman Reigns plays Akuma, and Mel Jarnson plays Cammy, with UFC star Alexander Volkanovski also on board as Joe.
The project has been years in the making. Legendary Entertainment acquired the live-action rights to ‘Street Fighter’ in April 2023, with Capcom co-producing and Kitao Sakurai directing.
Fans will be able to catch the film in IMAX and other premium formats, including 4DX, ScreenX and D-Box. With her polished press portraits making the rounds, Vallandingham looks ready to make a big impression on the big screen.
