Amber Heard has spent the past few years building a quieter life far from Hollywood. The ‘Aquaman’ and ‘The Rum Diary’ actress left California for Spain, first settling in Majorca before moving to Madrid with her family.

Along the way, she picked up a new passion. She took up running after relocating to Spain, and in June she shared a photo from her first race abroad, a 10K in Madrid, celebrating her post-race glow.

Now she has gone much further. The 40-year-old revealed on Instagram on Monday, October 5, that she completed her first half marathon, finishing the 21.1-kilometer race in Donostia-San Sebastián, in Spain’s Basque Country, in 1 hour and 39 minutes.

Heard shared 3 photos from the race. One captures her in full stride, another shows her walking at the finish line, and the third has become the most talked-about of all. In that final image, she looks completely spent but delighted, raising her arms above her head as she laughs with her eyes closed and her head thrown back. She wore a lilac sports top with matching bike shorts.

The celebration became a family moment, too. Another image showed Heard sharing a hug with her daughter, Oonagh, after crossing the finish line. Heard’s caption reflected how much she has embraced life in Spain. She thanked the host city using the Basque phrase “eskerrik asko,” which means thank you very much in Euskara, and proudly shared her finishing time.

Observers noted that her mix of the local language and personal pride suggests she has settled comfortably into her surroundings. Her finishing time also showed that her training clearly paid off. The half marathon marks a big step up from her racing debut just 3 months ago. That first 10K in Madrid introduced fans to her new hobby, and she has kept building from there.

Covering roughly 13.1 miles, the half marathon more than doubles the distance of her first race. For a relatively new runner, finishing in under 1 hour and 40 minutes is a strong result. Heard has largely kept a low profile since leaving the United States. Her running posts offer a rare glimpse into her life away from the spotlight.

Many fans have noted how different these images feel from the headlines that once surrounded her. Rather than a red carpet or a courtroom, this latest update centered on a finish line in a Spanish city and an achievement entirely her own.

Her last major public career moment came when her film ‘In the Fire’ premiered at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy. Since then, she has shared only occasional glimpses of her personal life.

Heard hasn’t revealed whether she plans to take on a full marathon. But given how quickly she progressed from her first 10K to a half marathon, fans may not have to wait long for her next running milestone. For now, the photos speak for themselves. She appears to be embracing her next chapter in Europe one stride at a time.

Would you like to see Amber Heard take on a full marathon after completing her first half marathon?
