‘Miraculous Ladybug’ Season 6 Episode 26 Finale Recap & Ending Explained: What Chrysalis Reveals in ‘Nemesis’

The season finale of ‘Miraculous Ladybug’ sets out to put the heroes face to face with the villain who inherited the Butterfly Miraculous. After the death of Monarch, a new villain called Chrysalis took the Butterfly Miraculous and has been sending akumatized villains after Ladybug, Cat Noir and their team. The closing episode, titled ‘Nemesis’, is built around a plan to catch her in the act.

This finale recap covers how that plan plays out, what the ending explained about Chrysalis, and what the night costs Marinette. The episode is listed with a United States air date of August 8, and it closes the first season animated with Unreal Engine in place of Autodesk Maya.

‘Miraculous Ladybug’ Finale Recap and the Trap for Chrysalis

The story starts with Alya suspecting that Gabriel Agreste was Monarch, and she confronts Marinette about it. Marinette first doubles down and denies hiding anything, then breaks down and admits how heavily the new villain has weighed on her life.

Instead of answering Alya directly, Marinette sets up a plan with the Miraculers to catch Chrysalis. With help from Rooster Bold, Rena Rouge creates an invincible illusion of Marinette that is meant to be akumatized on purpose into Nemesis. The real Marinette stays behind while the illusion serves as bait.

Nemesis turns Pigella and Caprikid into stone with her lasers and strips Chat Noir of his powers with a megakuma before Pegasus pulls them to safety. Ladybug then lets herself be petrified so Nemesis takes her earrings to Chrysalis, exactly as the team intended.

Ending Explained as the Raid Falls Short

Polymouse hides inside the earrings in a tiny form and transmits their location back to the team, and Miss Hound retrieves them. Alya has Nemesis undo the petrification, which lets Marinette transform back into Ladybug and join the assault.

The Miraculers raid Chrysalis’s lair but fail to catch her. She had already prepared a contingency plan, burning the books in her main lair before slipping away through the tunnels.

Ladybug insists the team still finish defeating Nemesis so the Butterfly holder does not sense that something was off about Marinette. One recap argues that presenting an akumatized Marinette alongside Ladybug has probably thrown Chrysalis off the idea that the two are the same person.

Chrysalis Shapeshifting Changes the Hunt

During the debrief, King Monkey cannot recall an encounter he supposedly had with Ladybug in the tunnel. The explanation is that Chrysalis impersonated him while escaping, and the team concludes she can now alter her appearance at will.

That ability also accounts for how Wang never actually came to Paris in the previous episode. It turns a chase through the tunnels into a larger problem of trust, since any face in the city could belong to her.

One recap calls the result a bittersweet ending, because the heroes miss their chance to capture her and retrieve the Butterfly Miraculous, yet they learn her new power and force her to destroy her lair and notebooks. The season closes with the villain exposed in one way and more dangerous in another.

Marinette and Alya After the Finale

Once the mission wraps, Alya tells Marinette it is not her place to decide what is best for other people. Marinette confirms Monarch’s identity to Alya, who warns that she cannot keep helping her hide the truth. Alya does not walk away from the team, but the friendship is left hanging.

Marinette’s outburst earlier in the episode was set off by Adrien’s plan to turn his home into a museum honoring his father. By the end she decides she will have to break up with Adrien if she cannot tell him the truth. In the post credits scene, Adrien tells her he loves her, and she cries alone and resolves to go through with it.

The reviewers at Bug Out called the finale decent but felt little was truly resolved, and they hope Adrien starts noticing inconsistencies early next season. The same review praised the animation, singling out the expressive work during Marinette’s angry rant.

With Alya now carrying the truth and Adrien still unaware, the finale leaves its central relationships under real strain. Do you think Marinette should tell Adrien about his father herself before a shapeshifting Chrysalis forces the timing for her?
