Apple TV Fills Its November Schedule With a Golf Comedy, a Heist Drama and a Cooking Docuseries

The slate of Apple TV new shows for November covers a lot of ground, with a returning sports comedy, an unscripted cooking series and an international heist thriller all arriving within the first half of the month. The premieres begin on November 4, continue on November 6 and reach a major thriller launch on November 13. Each one offers a different kind of viewing, so the month suits audiences who want variety rather than a single event.

Apple’s monthly additions tend to be modest in number compared with rival platforms, which lean on popular licensed titles and sheer volume. That approach puts more weight on each premiere, and the November Apple TV new shows carry recognizable stars and clear hooks. Here is what each one offers and when it arrives.

Season two of ‘Stick’ premieres Wednesday, November 4 with two episodes, followed by one episode weekly until December 30. The season runs for ten episodes and is created and showrun by Jason Keller. That weekly rollout means the story stretches across the holiday period rather than arriving all at once.

Owen Wilson stars and executive produces as Pryce Cahill. Pryce is an over the hill former professional golfer whose career was derailed prematurely about twenty years ago. The first season ended with the possibility that he might return to competitive golf. The new season sees his young protege Santi pursue the next steps toward professional golf, while Pryce makes his own return to the game.

Rhea Seehorn joins the cast as Amanda, a new coach working with Pryce, while Marc Maron returns as his caddie Mitts. Seehorn arrives fresh from her acclaimed turn in ‘Pluribus,’ another Apple series. John Higgins, Billy Zane, Rex Linn, Sasha Alexander and Missi Pyle also join the ensemble.

9to5Mac notes that the show drew comparisons to ‘Ted Lasso’ soon after its debut, since both are heartwarming sports comedies. Apple describes the series as a feel good comedy about a found family set within the world of golf. That tone makes it an easy companion to the heavier fare arriving later in the month.

‘Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook’

The eight episode docuseries premieres globally on Friday, November 6. It follows Nora Lum, better known as Awkwafina, as she tries to revive Lum’s, her family’s Cantonese restaurant in Flushing, New York. She inherited the restaurant’s legacy but never learned to cook.

With help from chefs, restaurateurs and relatives, she travels the country to build her kitchen skills. Her route includes a course at the Culinary Institute of America, Texas barbecue with Jimmy O. Yang, and lessons from Roy Choi and Martin Yan. In Hawai’i she explores the tiki culture that inspired her grandmother’s restaurant, then works a shift at a restaurant in Los Angeles’ Chinatown before an opening night with her grandmother in the dining room.

‘The Unlikely Cook’ was produced for Apple by Twofour, which previously made the Emmy nominated travel series ‘The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy.’ Lum, David Brindley, Itay Reiss and Caroline Davies serve as executive producers. The pairing suggests Apple sees a repeatable formula in personality led travel and food programming.

Time Out describes the format as a strong fit for Awkwafina, pairing her comic reactions with a more heartfelt side that audiences do not often see. The trailer leans on that contrast, with Lum bluntly admitting she cannot cook at all.

The eight episode drama premieres globally on Friday, November 13, with two episodes, followed by one episode every Friday through December 25. Each episode unfolds across timelines covering the 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the heist and the 12 days that follow. At the center of the story is a raid on a bank vault deep beneath the streets of Zurich.

Anthony Mackie plays a disgraced FBI agent and Jamie Dornan plays an American career criminal, locked in a zero sum game of cat and mouse across Europe. The two previously worked together on the film ‘Synchronic.’ Both also serve as executive producers on the series.

Kari Skogland directs, reuniting with Mackie after ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ and the series was created and written by Jim Keeble and Dudi Appleton. The cast also includes Jack Kesy, Kali Reis, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Agathe Rousselle and Sallie Harmsen. Filming took place in Budapest and Texas.

The Friday release pattern gives the thriller a weekly rhythm that should keep its structure of planning, execution and escape fresh across the run. If that timeline of 12 months, 12 hours and 12 days is enough to bring you back every Friday, tell us in the comments whether Mackie’s disgraced agent or Dornan’s career criminal is the one you expect to come out ahead in Zurich.
