Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer Take Over a Replicant-Ruled Future in New ‘Blade Runner 2099’ Poster
The ‘Blade Runner’ franchise has spent decades exploring the uneasy line between humans and the replicants they created. Ridley Scott’s original 1982 film and Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Blade Runner 2049’ both followed characters tasked with hunting down bioengineered beings, while the animated ‘Blade Runner: Black Lotus’ expanded the world between those 2 films.
Now the saga is heading somewhere entirely new. ‘Blade Runner 2099’ is the franchise’s first live-action TV series, an 8-episode limited series created by showrunner Silka Luisa of ‘Shining Girls’, with Scott serving as an executive producer.
The road to the screen has been a long one. Prime Video revealed the title in February 2022 and greenlit the series that September, but production was delayed by almost a year due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes before filming wrapped in late 2024.
Now the finish line is in sight. Prime Video has unveiled a new poster for the series starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, set after a replicant uprising in which humans lost and replicants now rule.

The artwork places Yeoh and Schafer front and center, with their names the only ones listed above the title. Flying spinner vehicles and a glowing neon cityscape fill the background, while the supporting cast surrounds the 2 leads beneath a fiery orange sky.
The series is set 50 years after ‘Blade Runner 2049’, in a Los Angeles that has been reborn without humanity taking the credit. Replicants hold civic power in this version of the city, while humans live beneath them as second-class residents.
That shift flips the franchise’s traditional formula. Instead of humans hunting replicants, the badge now belongs to the manufactured, and being human becomes the secret worth hiding. Yeoh plays Olwen, a replicant Blade Runner who is in the final days of her life. Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive human pretending to be a replicant.

The two form an unlikely and uneasy alliance, with Cora reportedly working to secure her brother’s future while helping Olwen track down a runaway. The dynamic promises plenty of tension in a world where passing as a replicant is a matter of survival.
The cast also includes series regulars Dimitri Abold, known for ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’, and Lewis Gribben of ‘Somewhere Boy’. Katelyn Rose Downey and Daniel Rigby also star.
Recurring players include Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim and Matthew Needham. Jonathan van Tulleken directs the first 2 episodes, with executive producers including Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
The new poster follows a trailer that Prime Video debuted at New York Comic Con earlier this month, where Yeoh, Schafer and other cast members joined Luisa onstage. The footage teased the replicant-ruled Los Angeles and the central partnership between Olwen and Cora.

Fan reactions online have been a mix of excitement and skepticism, with some eager to see the world expand and others wondering whether a series can match the films’ atmosphere. Either way, the striking premise has given viewers plenty to talk about.
All 8 episodes of ‘Blade Runner 2099’ will premiere at once on November 25, the day before Thanksgiving. The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. With a bold new setting and 2 acclaimed leads, the limited series is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing sci-fi releases of the year.
