Namor Won’t Join Doctor Doom’s Side in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ According to a New Report
Tenoch Huerta Mejía made a striking MCU debut as Namor in 2022’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. Introduced as the ancient mutant ruler of Talokan, a hidden underwater civilization inspired by Mesoamerican culture, the character quickly became one of the franchise’s most compelling antiheroes.
Marvel confirmed in March 2025 that Huerta would return for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and he even appeared in the film’s first trailer. Mabel Cadena is also back as Namora and Alex Livinalli as Attuma, with reports suggesting Namor will sport a revamped, more military look.
Given Namor’s tangled history with Doctor Doom in the comics, many fans have wondered whether the Talokan king might align himself with Robert Downey Jr.’s villain. Now a new report suggests that won’t be the case.
As Cosmic Marvel highlighted, Namor will reportedly not be part of Doctor Doom’s team in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The detail comes from insider Alex Perez during an October Q&A with members of The Cosmic Circus community.

A fan asked whether Namor’s absence from team-based merchandise and promotion meant he would be joining Doom’s army. Perez responded that Namor is not part of Team Doom in the film.

The report lines up with comments Huerta made earlier this year. Speaking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor revealed that Namor and Doom don’t share direct scenes.
“What he’s doing affects the entire world. With this anger, he can destroy everything around. So, it’s not direct, the relationship, but it’s something that is the consequence of what is happening in his heart,” Huerta told Collider. He has also suggested that Namor’s role in ‘Doomsday’ will be smaller and simpler than his turn in ‘Wakanda Forever’, given how many heroes the film needs to balance.
If Namor isn’t fighting for Doom, the villain still appears to have plenty of firepower. Reports have suggested Doom’s forces could include the Latverian Witches, the Scarlet Witch, an alternate version of Doctor Strange named Boris, the Hulk, and an army of Doombots.

None of those rumored allies have been officially confirmed by Marvel. Still, the reports paint a picture of a formidable army facing the film’s heroes. Some have speculated that Namor could instead find himself working alongside the heroes. Footage shown so far has reportedly hinted at an uneasy partnership with Wakanda against Doom.
That would set up an intriguing reunion with Letitia Wright’s Shuri, the current Black Panther, who is also confirmed to return. Given the tension between Talokan and Wakanda in ‘Wakanda Forever’, any alliance would likely be a fragile one.
The film’s story reportedly involves a multiversal collision that pits the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four against one another before they unite to stop Doom. Namor’s connection to the Fantastic Four in the comics also gives him a natural place in that larger conflict.

Perez’s Q&A also teased an unexpected dynamic between Florence Pugh’s Yelena and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. As always with insider reports, fans should treat these details with caution until the film arrives. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ hitting theaters on December 18, audiences won’t have to wait much longer to discover exactly where the Talokan king’s loyalties lie.
