Marvel’s ‘VisionQuest’ has quickly become one of the franchise’s most talked-about Disney+ series. Created by showrunner Terry Matalas, the 8-episode show serves as the final chapter of the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’, following Paul Bettany’s White Vision as he struggles to regain his memory and humanity.

One of the series’ biggest draws has been James Spader’s return as Ultron, nearly a decade after ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Since his android body was destroyed, the villainous AI has existed inside Vision’s Mindspace, creating a tense dynamic that Matalas has called central to the show.

The series raised the stakes even further with the debut of Jocasta, played by T’Nia Miller of ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’. The character first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1977, where she was created by Ultron to be his bride.

‘VisionQuest’ has taken a different approach. In episode 4, ‘Malware’, the mysterious killer known as Butcherbird was unmasked as Jocasta, a synthezoid built in the image of Dr. Josephine Carrington, an AI researcher whose work helped pave the way for creations like Vision, J.A.R.V.I.S. and Ultron.

Now Marvel is teasing what comes next for the 2 machines. As DiscussingFilm shared, a new look at Ultron and Jocasta has been released ahead of tonight’s episodes. The image shows the pair face to face in a dark, industrial setting, with Jocasta reaching toward Ultron. The word “Tonight” is splashed across the frame, signaling the arrival of 2 new episodes on Disney+ at 6 p.m. PT.

The striking visual has fueled speculation that the show may be inching closer to the characters’ comic book relationship, even if this version of Jocasta was not created by Ultron.

The image follows a dramatic turn of events. At the end of episode 4, Vision allowed Ultron to take over his body during a losing fight, only for Ultron to betray him by baiting Butcherbird into killing Katerina.

Ultron then seized full control of Vision’s body and flirted with Jocasta before she fled. The episode ended with Tommy walking away alongside a Vision now driven entirely by Ultron. Jocasta even echoed Ultron’s signature phrase, “Peace in our time,” hinting that a deeper connection between the 2 could still be revealed.

Tonight’s episodes mark the halfway point of the season’s double-episode releases, a stage where alliances are likely to shift. Fans are eager to learn who hired the bounty hunter Paladin, played by Todd Stashwick, if not Jocasta.

There are also questions about what Jocasta is searching for that requires so many biometric keys, and who built her using Carrington’s template. Most importantly, viewers want to know whether Vision can regain control of his body and protect Tommy.

Critics have consistently singled out Spader’s performance. Reviews have praised his ability to deliver darkly humorous moments while keeping Ultron sinister and mysterious. Spader has described Ultron as someone who both loves and hates Vision, and he has explained that the series allows him to explore the character far more deeply than ‘Age of Ultron’ did. Miller has also earned praise for bringing depth to Jocasta.

After tonight, only 2 episodes remain. Episode 7, ‘Immolation’, arrives on November 3, followed by the finale, ‘Forever’, on November 10. With Ultron in control and Jocasta’s true mission still a mystery, the final stretch of ‘VisionQuest’ promises plenty of twists for Marvel fans.

Do you think Ultron and Jocasta will become allies or enemies in the final episodes of VisionQuest?
