For years, one of TV’s most unsettling horror mysteries has been hard to find for many viewers outside the US. That’s changing, as ‘From’ on Netflix is about to reach a much bigger global audience. The series follows people trapped in a nightmarish town that won’t let anyone leave.

The show premiered in 2022. It was created by John Griffin; Jeff Pinkner serves as showrunner, and Harold Perrineau stars as Boyd Stevens, the town’s sheriff and de facto mayor. It has since become the most-watched series in MGM+ history, building a loyal fanbase that obsesses over every clue, creature, and closed door.

According to What’s on Netflix, the series will arrive in the UK, Canada and France on November 24. Its listings also show the show reaching the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, India and Belgium on the same day.

MGM+ Horror Hit ‘From’ Is Coming to Netflix in the US for the First Time

Not everyone is included this time. The series isn’t currently expected in Australia, Germany, Spain or Latin America. For most of the new regions, this will be the first time the show is on Netflix.

For a few countries, it’s a return. Subscribers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Poland, Sweden, and Netflix’s Middle East and North Africa region could stream season 1 after it launched there in April 2024, before it later left the service. The expansion follows a strong start in the US. Seasons 1 to 3 landed on Netflix there on October 19, and the show has appeared in the daily Top 10s ever since.

Season 1 ranked No. 7 on Netflix’s English TV chart for the week of October 19 to 25, with 2.9 million views and 24.3 million hours watched. That’s an impressive result for a show that spent its first 3 seasons on a smaller streaming platform.

There’s some history behind the deal, too. When the series was announced in 2021, the plan was for Netflix to carry it outside the US as a Netflix Original, but that never happened. The current agreement for the first 3 seasons is described as a limited-time window.

Fans eager to binge everything will hit a wall. Season 4 premiered on MGM+ on April 19 and wrapped earlier this year, but it isn’t part of the Netflix deal. That season centered on the mystery of the Man in Yellow and asked whether Boyd could hold the town together as he fell apart himself.

Neither Netflix nor Amazon MGM has said publicly whether season 4 will follow. What’s on Netflix speculates it could arrive sometime in early-to-mid 2027, before the final season premieres. The outlet also notes it might not arrive during the current license at all, pointing to ‘Fargo’ as a show whose later seasons never reached Netflix before earlier ones left.

There’s also a business reason to keep those episodes off Netflix for now. Holding back the newest season gives curious viewers a reason to subscribe to MGM+ once they’re caught up.

The bigger picture is that the end is in sight. MGM+ announced on April 15 that the series would return for a 5th and final season, just days before season 4 premiered. Filming is underway in Halifax and is scheduled to wrap on November 27, with a premiere planned for 2027.

Griffin, Pinkner and director-producer Jack Bender said in a joint statement that they were thrilled to have begun work on the new season and to see the story through to its conclusion. Alongside Perrineau, the ensemble includes Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, Hannah Cheramy, Simon Webster and Ricky He.

The timing works out nicely for newcomers. Viewers who discover the show in November will have plenty of time to catch up on the first 3 seasons, and maybe seek out season 4, before the final chapter arrives.
