Marvel’s marketing for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has kept its villain front and center. Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom has dominated nearly every piece of promotional art, from character posters to light-up popcorn buckets, as the studio builds toward one of its biggest releases yet.

The Russo brothers’ film brings heroes from 3 universes together on a collision course against an existential threat. The cast includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, and X-Men veterans Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

The latest wave of promotion focuses on premium formats. Marvel has released a new set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ posters for RealD 3D, 4DX and Dolby Cinema, each putting Doom in the spotlight once again.

The RealD 3D poster is the boldest of the three. It features an extreme close-up of Doom’s metal mask, half in shadow against a bright green backdrop, with the tagline “Meet your doom in RealD 3D” and the line “12.18.26 is Doomsday.”

The 4DX poster shows Doom standing tall in his flowing green cloak beneath a stormy sky. It invites fans to “Feel it in 4DX” and carries the ‘Infinity Vision’ branding used across the film’s premium screenings.

The Dolby Cinema poster may be the most atmospheric of the set. It shows a hooded Doom in profile, holding a ball of glowing green energy in his armored hand as rain and embers fall around him.

A bare tree and ruined structures fill the background, adding to the sense of destruction. The poster encourages fans to “Discover it at Dolby Cinema” and confirms the December 18 release date. Together, the posters stick to the green-tinted look that has defined the campaign and keep the focus firmly on Downey’s villain.

These designs follow a string of other Doom-focused reveals. A recent character poster, shown at Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, pictured Doom standing tall with Sentinels looming behind him.

Earlier this month, a set of 25 posters surfaced along with a “Team Doom” poster, which was described as the first MCU theatrical poster to spotlight characters who hadn’t yet been officially cast. Doom’s look has also inspired theater collectibles around the world, including glowing popcorn buckets and throne-shaped cups.

The approach makes clear that Marvel is selling Doom as the ultimate big bad, rather than as a possible ally to the heroes. While the film opens in the U.S. on December 18, some audiences will see it sooner. Disney has confirmed China will get the film on December 16, and posters in Italy and Korea list the same early date.

Premium Infinity Vision tickets went on sale in July, and presales have reportedly passed $125 million. The film shares its opening day with ‘Dune: Part Three’, a matchup fans have dubbed “Dunesday.”

Marvel still has plenty left to reveal. The final trailer is expected in mid-November, and fans are hoping for more character posters featuring the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four.

Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay, with Michael Waldron, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers contributing to the story. The Russos will also direct ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, which follows on December 17, 2027.

With release day just weeks away, these premium format posters are another reminder that Doomsday is coming. Whichever format fans choose, Doom is clearly meant to be the main attraction.
