Netflix ‘North of North’ Season 2 Cast Welcomes New Faces to Ice Cove (with photos)
Netflix’s Arctic comedy ‘North of North’ is heading back to Ice Cove, and the cast of the new season pairs the full core ensemble with a new series regular and a handful of guest appearances. The season debuts in Canada on APTN+ and CBC on September 8, and the Netflix release is listed for November 5.
Creators Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril made history with the show as Netflix’s first Canadian original series. The official logline finds Siaja making bold decisions and even bolder mistakes as winter closes in, while she tries to prove to her community that she is ready to take charge. Here is who is playing whom.
Anna Lambe

Lambe returns as Siaja, a young Inuk mother building a new life in the tiny Arctic community of Ice Cove. Her story began when she ended her marriage to high school sweetheart Ting in spectacular fashion, just after the couple were crowned king and queen of the seal hunt. Critics have noted that Lambe’s performance anchors the series as Siaja reinvents herself.
Maika Harper

Harper plays Neevee, Siaja’s mother, and the two share a home after the breakup, along with Siaja’s daughter. Neevee is described as secretive but well meaning. Her character also has a history with Alistair.
Braeden Clarke

Clarke plays Kuuk, a researcher and assistant to Alistair who becomes a love interest for Siaja. That connection is complicated by his on and off relationship with his girlfriend. Viewers may know the actor from ‘Little Bird’ and ‘Outlander’.
Jay Ryan

Ryan plays Alistair, a charismatic environmental consultant who first came north as a summer student and has stayed connected to the region ever since. The New Zealand actor is recognized for playing the adult Ben Hanscom in ‘It Chapter Two’. His television work also includes ‘Territory’ and ‘Mary Kills People’.
Mary Lynn Rajskub

Rajskub plays Helen, who runs the town’s community center and employs Siaja as her assistant. The actress is known for ’24’ and ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’. Her scenes give the show a workplace comedy anchor alongside the family storylines.
Zorga Qaunaq

Qaunaq plays Millie, a free spirited colleague of Siaja and Colin at the community center. The multidisciplinary artist grew up in Nunavut, now lives in Ottawa, and made her major acting debut on this series.
Bailey Poching

Poching plays Colin, the community center’s communications coordinator who also moonlights as a radio DJ. Netflix describes Colin as a young Māori man who traveled to the Arctic for love and is sweet, supportive and easy to talk to. Poching was also a writer on the comedy game show ‘7 Days’.
Keira Cooper

Cooper plays Bun, Siaja’s daughter. Arnaquq-Baril has recalled the young actor asking why all the bosses on the show are women. All of the directors on the series are BIPOC women, which the creators have said they are proud of.
Bruce McCulloch

McCulloch joins as a new series regular and is best known as a member of the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall. He plays Military Mitch, an instructor hired to teach first aid at the Ice Cove Community Centre. The role places a veteran sketch comedian inside the same community center that anchors so much of the ensemble.
With a full returning ensemble, a comedy veteran and a musician all gathering in Ice Cove, which of these newcomers do you think will shake up Siaja’s community the most, and will Elisapie’s new song earn a place among the series’ most memorable moments in the comments?
