Few Marvel characters have sparked as much return speculation as Sylvie, the Loki variant Sophia Di Martino played in ‘Loki’. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to open in theaters on December 18, fans have been watching for any sign that she’ll show up in the multiversal crossover.

Sylvie debuted in 2021 on the Disney+ series, which ran for 2 seasons. In the ‘Loki’ Season 1 finale, she killed He Who Remains to free the timelines, and by the end of Season 2, she and Loki had moved past their rivalry to a place of mutual respect.

Now Di Martino has been asked directly whether she’s returning as Sylvie in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Speaking to Digital Spy, as shared by Avengers Updates, she said it’s lovely that so many fans are eager to see the character again. She stopped short of confirming anything, saying only that she’d never say never.

The careful answer fits Marvel’s usual secrecy, but it’s unlikely to quiet the theories. Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed whether Sylvie will appear, while Tom Hiddleston’s God Loki is already set for the film.

Much of the latest buzz started at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Marvel Studios displayed a costume labeled “Latverian Witch” at its booth near ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ props, showing robed figures who appear to serve Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

According to ComicBook.com, the studio rotated the costume’s color scheme each night, with 4 versions shown over the weekend. Fans quickly linked the green witch to Sylvie because it matches her color scheme, while others tied the purple and orange versions to Charlize Theron’s Clea and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.

Di Martino then added fuel to the theory online. She liked an Instagram comment from a fan asking “Latverian Witch?” under a photo she captioned as working on something a bit different, and reports say the like disappeared a few hours later.

This isn’t the first time Di Martino has sparked a Sylvie frenzy. In May 2025, she posted a cryptic selfie captioned “playgrounds” with the background obscured, then deleted it. Around the same time, Di Martino and her ‘Loki’ stunt double, Sarah Irwin, were reportedly spotted in the UK, where ‘Doomsday’ was filming.

Collider noted that the post appeared to tease a potential appearance in the next Avengers film, though nothing was confirmed. Di Martino has also spoken warmly about the character. In a December 2023 interview with 1883 Magazine, she said she’d love to see Sylvie do anything and called herself very fond of the role, adding that whatever Sylvie does, she’ll do it with fight.

If Sylvie does appear, fans have plenty of ideas about her role. The Direct has suggested she could be working as a double agent planted by Loki inside Doom’s operation, or that Doom’s sorcery might be forcing her to serve him.

Other fans think she may have agreed to serve Doom to protect God Loki. For now, these remain theories, and neither Downey nor anyone else from the film has revealed who is under the witches’ masks during recent press.

With the premiere approaching, any confirmation may not come until audiences see the film. Marvel has kept many ‘Doomsday’ surprises under wraps, and Di Martino’s answer suggests she’s happy to keep it that way.

Do you think Sylvie will appear in Avengers: Doomsday as one of Doctor Doom's Latverian Witches?
