‘Dead-End Job’ Lands One of Netflix’s Strongest K-Drama Debuts of the Year
Netflix’s latest Korean horror series is already paying off. ‘Dead-End Job’, a fantasy comedy-horror K-drama starring Lee Jae Wook, premiered on October 30 and quickly became one of the streamer’s most-watched new Korean titles.
The 8-episode limited series, originally known as ‘Perfect Job’, is directed by Kim Da Min and Han Jun Hee. Filming began in April 2025 and wrapped in November 2025, and Netflix had originally targeted October 9 before settling on the end of the month.
The first official viewing numbers are now in. According to What’s on Netflix’s breakdown of the latest Netflix Top 10, ‘Dead-End Job’ opened with 5.0 million views and 25.4 million hours viewed between October 26 and November 1.
That was enough to enter the Netflix Non-English TV chart at #4. It’s also the second-best Friday debut for a Korean binge release in 2026, trailing only ‘Teach You a Lesson’, which opened with 6.4 million views and made Netflix’s all-time top 10 list.

‘Dead-End Job’ edged out several other high-profile Korean releases in What’s on Netflix’s comparison. ‘The East Palace’ opened with 4.9 million views, ‘Can This Love Be Translated?’ with 4 million, and ‘Our Sticky Love’ with 3.2 million.
Further down the list were ‘The WONDERfools’ with 2.7 million, ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ with 2.6 million, ‘Mousetrap’ with 2 million, and ‘The Scandal’ with 1.9 million. That puts the series near the top of an already crowded year for Korean content on the streamer.

The Non-English TV chart was led by ‘Lupin: Part 4’, which pulled in 10.8 million views in its second week. ‘The Fall of El Mayo’ landed just ahead of ‘Dead-End Job’ at #3 with 5.2 million views, despite having far fewer hours viewed.
‘Doctor X: Mafia in White’ followed at #5 with 4.4 million views in its fourth week. Zapzee also reported that ‘Dead-End Job’ climbed to No. 2 worldwide on Netflix and reached the top 10 in 86 countries.
The premise has clearly hooked viewers. Lee Jae Wook plays Byeon Hyeok Jun, a man deep in debt who answers a flyer for a high-paying part-time job through a run-down staffing agency.
He takes a night shift at a convenience store that pays 50 times the minimum wage, only to find the job is deadly. Threats range from swarms of moths to a menacing clown, and the danger grows as the pay rises.
Go Min Si plays Yeon Ju, an accident investigator at the Occupational Accident Protection Agency who looks into the agency’s suspicious incidents. Kim Min Ha plays Hyeok Jun’s younger sister, Ji Yun, who often clashes with him over money.

Lee Hee Joon plays Kang Jun, known as Mr. S, the boss of the staffing agency who offers Hyeok Jun the job. Choi Hyun Wook, Yoon Kyung Ho, Yoon Byung Hee and Cho Hyun Chul also make special appearances as people Hyeok Jun meets at his various jobs.
Because ‘Dead-End Job’ launched on a Friday, its debut week captured only a few days of viewing. With the series still trending, its second week could show whether it has the staying power to rival the year’s biggest Korean hits.
