Doom’s Mutant-Hunting Army Gets a Closer Look in New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Sentinel Figure Photos
Marvel’s merchandise rollout for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ keeps shining a spotlight on the X-Men’s most feared enemies, and a new Sentinel figure is giving fans their sharpest look yet at the robots. The Sentinels are mutant-hunting machines that the comics credit to Bolivar Trask, built to wipe out the mutant population. They have been the X-Men’s go-to enemies since their 1965 debut in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s ‘X-Men’.
The giant robots finally reached the screen properly in 2014’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, which adapted the comic storyline about a dark future where Sentinels have nearly wiped out mutants. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ marks their first appearance in an MCU film, and the marketing has teased them slowly. The first X-Men teaser only showed a pair of enormous metallic boots walking behind James Marsden’s Cyclops.
Now fans can see the machine up close. MCU Film News shared a closer look at the Sentinel figure from ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, with photos zooming in on the robot’s head and shoulders. The images show the ridged purple helmet band, glowing yellow eyes, a silver segmented faceplate and a vented mouthplate, along with a weathered, metallic finish across the armor.
The look leans heavily on the robot’s comic-book roots. Toy People describes the Sentinel design seen in the trailer as a tribute to the robot’s classic comic-book appearance, and the purple-and-silver color scheme in these new photos fits that throwback style. Funko’s oversized Pop! version shows the same bulky purple armor, ridged helmet, yellow eyes, and grimacing mouthplate.

That nostalgia makes sense given who is coming back. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Marsden’s Cyclops, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique and Channing Tatum’s Gambit are all confirmed to return. The film brings together the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four as the multiverse collides.
The Sentinels won’t simply be X-Men villains this time. Downed robots lie scattered across the grounds of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, and Doctor Doom raises them back up in the movie. Den of Geek noted that Doom seems to turn the machines into an extension of his own power against the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men.

The trailers have backed that up. A special look showed Doom raising the Sentinels, and the third official trailer included a shot of Cyclops firing his optic blast at them. Variety’s coverage of the trailer described Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom facing off against Mister Fantastic, the X-Men and the Avengers with an army of Sentinels.

The new photos land in the middle of a wave of Sentinel merchandise. Hot Toys recently revealed a giant Sentinel Jumbo Sofvi Figure that stands about 60cm tall, priced at HK$2,030 and expected to ship between Q3 and Q4 2027. It has LED light-up eyes that switch between green and orange, 18 points of articulation, interchangeable classic and battle-damaged faceplates, and a removable faceplate that reveals the mechanical details underneath.
The Hot Toys set also includes a small Doctor Doom figure with outstretched arms and a rocky base, recreating the trailer moment where he wakes the Sentinel. The robot shows up across Hot Toys’ wider ‘Doomsday’ line as well. A Deluxe Gambit comes with a Sentinel-themed diorama base, and a Deluxe Steve Rogers figure includes a battle-damaged Sentinel head and hand.
