We know that the storyline of ‘Baki’ already has a clear alpha male in the form of Yuujirou Hanma, who has always been the strongest creature on the planet. Even entire countries recognize just how strong Yuujirou is, as the US agreed to have a non-aggression agreement with him due to how powerful he is.

Nevertheless, we have seen our fair share of powerful characters in ‘Baki,’ and every single one of these characters is strong, skilled, and very talented in their own right. Of course, Yuujirou is still the strongest character, even though some names may eventually become strong enough to take him on. So, with that said, let’s look at the characters that can or have a shot at beating Yuujirou Hanma.

10. Kaiou Retsu

retsu

Kaiou Retsu is the biggest “what if” on this list because he never reached his full potential as a fighter. He died in his fight with Miyamoto Musashi, which means that he was never able to reach the pinnacle of his ambitions as a fighter despite the fact that he has always worked just as hard as anyone else to become the best he could be.

The thing about Retsu was that he never got tired of trying to perfect Chinese martial arts, and that’s why he incorporated many different elements into his craft, including karate and boxing. So, if he had stayed alive long enough, he would have eventually become strong enough to challenge Yuujirou, although we know that the fight would have ended in the Ogre’s favor.

9. Katsumi Orochi

Katsumi profile

We know that Katsumi Orochi is still weaker than his father, Doppo Orochi. However, he is one of the younger names on this list, which means he still has the potential to become even stronger. He wasn’t as talented as his father initially, but it appeared that he tried to become strong enough to take on even Pickle himself.

Katsumi could perfect a strike so fast and strong that not even his arm could withstand the recoil of this strike. While he lost his arm, Retsu gave his arm to him after his death. As such, Katsumi now has the potential to eventually become strong enough to surpass his father and even challenge the Ogre to a fight.

8. Jack Hanma

jack hanma

Jack Hanma’s biggest goal in his entire life was to become stronger than Yuujirou Hanma because of what the Ogre did to his mother. In that regard, he lives for revenge and is looking to find a way to become stronger than the strongest man on the planet.

Jack did everything he could to become stronger, including undertaking experimental procedures that gave him incredible size and strength. Nevertheless, he still wasn’t strong enough to take on Yuujirou or even Pickle. But because he is comparatively young, Jack may eventually become strong enough to be worthy of the Hanma name.

7. Kaoru Hanayama

Kaoru Hanayama

Kaoru Hanayama has always been one of the most well-protected characters in ‘Baki’ in the sense that we rarely see a moment of weakness from this massive guy. He might have seen his fair share of losses already, but he has always appeared strong despite losing.

He is still very young and is only about a year older than Baki. As such, Hanayama has the potential to become just as strong as Yuujirou and even challenge him to a fight. He is known for his incredible strength, and even Pickle was shocked when he realized that Hanayama had the same strength as a Triceratops. And he is still getting stronger.

6. Kaiou Kaku

kaku

As the oldest character in terms of his biological age (not counting Pickle, who was frozen in ice), Kaiou Kaku is the strongest Chinese martial artist in the entire world of ‘Baki’ and has mastered all forms of Chinese martial arts.

In his fight with Yuujirou during the Raitai tournament, he was strong enough to actually hold his own against the Ogre and fight him on par even after Yuujirou used his Demon Back. Nevertheless, Kaku lost that fight after faking his own death in the middle of it because he knew that he was about to lose to the strongest man on the planet.

5. Nomi No Sukune II

sukune

Nomi No Sukune II is the world’s strongest sumo wrestler and was the descendant of none other than the God of Sumo himself. He is one of the most powerful characters in ‘Baki’ and possesses an insane grip that allows him to turn coal into diamond. This means that his grip alone can reach 100 tons of pressure.

In that regard, Sukune has the same kind of strength that Yuujirou has, which means that he can stand a chance against the mighty Ogre. He might be slower and less skilled than Yuujirou, but his strength gives him a chance.

4. Pickle

pickle 3 1

Pickle is a prehistoric caveman from nearly 200 million years in the past. As such, his entire physique was molded by the tough world that he lived in, as he had to fight dinosaurs to get by. And that made him strong enough to take down a T-Rex and even a Triceratops.

The thing about Pickle is that he is very raw in the sense that he doesn’t know any modern martial arts techniques. He uses prehistoric and barbaric tactics to defeat his opponents, and his strength and durability usually allow him to get by. As seen from how he defeated Baki using a martial arts move, he has the potential to fight Yuujirou on par, especially if he learns martial arts.

3. Miyamoto Musashi

Retsu VS Musashi

Miyamoto Musashi was the strongest samurai in history and was revived through a combination of cloning and soul transference. As such, he could live in the modern day, where he fought some of the strongest fighters in the world.

Musashi was so skilled and strong that he killed Kaiou Retsu and was responsible for forcing Pickle to flee in terror. He doesn’t have the raw physical strength that most ‘Baki’ fighters have, but his incredible skills matched even Yuujirou’s incredible strength and prowess. And that means that he has a shot at beating the Ogre.

2. Baki Hanma

Of course, we are not forgetting about Baki Hanma, who we know is the only one worthy of Yuujirou’s throne as the next strongest person in the entire world. At such a young age, he could already showcase his talents as a fighter, having defeated fighters so much bigger, older, and stronger than him.

Eventually, at the age of 18, he challenged his father and showcased enough strength and skill to fight the Ogre in an all-out brawl. Of course, while Yuujirou won that fight because Baki ran out of stamina, the Ogre finally recognized his son as a true Hanma regarding his strength and skills.

1. Yuuichirou Hanma

Yuuichirou Hanma is arguably the strongest fighter ever referenced in ‘Baki’ and is likely stronger than Yuujirou, although we never really found out whether or not they fought in a serious fight. We only know that Yuujirou hinted that he was the only man he couldn’t defeat.

As the father of the Ogre himself, Yuuichirou was incredibly strong and could withstand an attack from an entire battleship during the Battle of Okinawa. He possessed the Demon Back, which made him even stronger. But the only thing that held him back was that he had Baki’s kind and laid-back demeanor.
