20 Best John Cena Movies, Ranked

John Cena may have started out his career as a WWE superstar and arguably the best wrestler in the history of the company, but he has since branched out of the ring and has made it to the big screens. Now a major movie star, John Cena has as many movies as the number of titles he won in WWE. That said, we are here to rank 20 of John Cena’s best movies.
20. Dolittle (2020)
The first entry on our list of John Cena movies is Dolittle by director Stephen Gaghan a comedy film that sees Cena in a supporting role. He voices Yoshi, a kind-hearted polar bear.
19. Fred: The Movie (2010)
One smaller role on this list. Cena plays the role of Fred’s odd and always shirtless Father. The focus of the movie is on Fred, who is in love with the girl next door named Judy and goes on a desperate quest to find her. Fred The Movie is one of those films you accidentally see late at night on TV but stay watching because you know, it’s starring John Cena.
18. Vacation Friends (2021)
One more comedy on this list by director Clay Tarver with a pretty diverse cast. Vacation Friends focuses on a couple who got bored with life and went on a week without inhibitions. They meet John Cena in a starring role and Kyla who afford them a week of crazy fun before they get married. The plot thickens when Ron and Kyla show up on their wedding day unnounced. It’s might not be among the best comedy films in the world but it’s alright.
17. F9: The Fast Saga (2021)
There might be too many Fast and Furious movies already, and it’s no surprise that John Cena managed to grab ahold of a role in one. He portrays the role of Dom’s forsaken younger brother who threatens the safety of all Toretto Family.
16. Fighting With My Family (2019)
The truth is that Fighting With My Family only involves John Cena in a very minor role as himself. This is, after all, the true-to-life story of former WWE wrestler Paige and her tight-knit wrestling family in the UK. Fighting With My Family by director Stephen Merchant revolves around a brother and a sister who get an opportunity to test their proves in WWE after a successful wrestling career in the UK.
15. Legendary (2010)
Legendary is an inspiring story by director Mel Damski. This is a coming-of-age story that focuses on the growth of a teenager with the help of John Cena’s character. The movie focuses on a scrawny teenager who joins his high school’s wrestling team. It has a pretty good supporting cast.
14. The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown (2015)
In this animated film, Fred Flinstone and the rest of the gang meet John Cenastone, played by John Cena, of course. Fred and his friends decide that they want to learn how to fight, and that is where they try to get help from the star Cenastone and the rest of the WWE wrestlers.
13. Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery (2014)
One more animated movie on this list. Once again giving his voice, the movie revolves around Shaggy and Scooby winning tickets to see the WWE live. All five of Mystery Inc. go, but they are attacked by a ghost bear. John Cena is one of the star wrestlers who helped the gang solve the mystery. It might not be the most famous of titles on this list but it’s worth a watch.
12. Daddy’s Home 2 (2017)
John Cena was also in the first Daddy’s Home film, but he was an unnamed character that only made a cameo appearance. However, in Daddy’s Home 2, he now has a bigger role, although he still is a supporting character. John Cena makes an appearance as the biological father of Dusty’s step-daughter, as the two dads clash in a comedic way in this hilarious film.
11. The Marine (2006)
The Marine is John Cena’s first true billing as a leading star for a movie by director John Bonito. This movie also coincided with his rise as the new face of the WWE during the latter half of the 2000s, when he became one of the most popular wrestlers in the industry.
10. Playing With Fire (2019)
Playing With Fire might not be one of the best movies that John Cena has had recently. You could forgive him for some of the subpar movies that he had early in his career, but this one should have been better. Nevertheless, it still takes a good look at Cena’s comedic side as an actor playing the role of a firefighter who was tasked to take on tough babysitting duty.
9. Sisters (2015)
Sisters is another one of those movies where John Cena only plays a supporting role. However, despite the fact that he isn’t a starring character, Cena was able to showcase his versatility as an actor because, prior to this movie, he was usually billed in the stereotype action hero film, just like how Dwayne Johnson started out.
8. 12 Rounds (2009)
12 Rounds was one of Cena’s first acting gigs when he was still at the very height of his popularity as the face of the WWE. This is also one of the films that really showcased Cena’s acting skills, although he was still improving as an actor at this part of his career. He plays the role of Danny Fisher whose girlfriend has been kidnaped.
7. Ferdinand (2017)
Cena’s best voice-acting role is in the film Ferdinand, which showcases his versatility as an actor. The rest of the cast is not bad either. This is one of his best and most fantastic voice-acting performances because we were able to truly connect with Ferdinand through the voice of one of the most talented talkers in the history of the WWE. Ferdinand has a great and funny story it’s worth the watch.
6. The Wall (2017)
While John Cena has recently taken comedy roles, The Wall is the best example of how actors with his build are usually cast in movies. Despite the fact that he is perfect for the role of a soldier due to his size and builds, The Wall by director Doug Liman is actually a good movie that is worth the watch.
John Cena plays the star role of an American sniper in The Wall. However, he and the other soldiers in the movie got trapped in Iraq. It’s an action-thriller that can be quite tense because you don’t know what will happen next, as every move could be any character’s last one.
5. The Suicide Squad (2021)
The Suicide Squad is one of the latest blockbuster movies on John Cena’s list of films. Although The Suicide Squad didn’t succeed in terms of its box office performance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is arguably the best DC live-action film due to its over-the-top action and ridiculous brand of comedy, and a great cast. John Cena is starring as a Peacemaker.
John Cena plays the role of Peacemaker (Christopher Smith), who he played so perfectly that he earned himself a spin-off Peacemaker series. (Christopher Smith) Peacemaker is one of the criminals chosen to be a member of Task Force X or the Suicide Squad in a mission that involved destabilizing an island nation run by a dictator.
4. Trainwreck (2015)
Trainwreck is the first major blockbuster movie that Cena was part of, but he wasn’t in it as a star actor he was cast in a support role. Still, the best part about his involvement in this movie is that it allowed us to see just how good John Cena can be in a comedy film. And this opened up more roles for him in comedy movies, even though someone of his size would usually be billed for action movies.
John Cena is a supporting character in Trainwreck. But thanks to his over-the-top performance as a gym addict obsessed with toning and creating the perfect body, he is so hilarious. Of course, the best thing about him is how vocal he is about sex and how he was able to deliver it in the funniest way possible.
3. Tour De Pharmacy (2017)
Tour De Pharmacy isn’t the most well-known John Cena film, despite the fact that Cena himself is a star. The reason is that this is a television movie that didn’t see the theaters. However, you will still love this movie because of how hilarious it is, as it was able to put together a film that John Cena, Orlando Bloom, and Andy Samberg.
Even though the movie focuses on a mature topic such as doping in the world of competitive cycling, Tour De Pharmacy was able to deliver it in a way that is comedic and quite over-the-top with its approach. This is what makes it one of the funniest movies that Cena has ever been on. It has a great cast too.
2. Blockers (2018)
Blockers may not be as big as Bumblebee in terms of its overall budget, but this is an amazing film that allows you to see John Cena playing a more mature role as a father.
In this Blockers, John Cena is cast as one of the overprotective parents who raised a teenage girl in this coming-of-age comedy. Cena’s daughter in the movie, as well as her friends, planned to lose their virginity on prom night.
This prompted Cena and the other overprotective parents to try to put a stop to the girls’ plans by basically cock-blocking them. The movie has a great cast and humor.
1. Bumblebee (2018)
If you look at critical reception, Bumblebee is without a doubt John Cena’s best movie as a leading character. Of course, while the spotlight shines on the popular Transformers star member, Cena is still one of the leading actors in a movie that is all about a CGI-made transforming car.
In this movie, John Cena is cast as one of the leading humans in a film that focuses on a robot. He plays Jack Burns, who ends up helping Bumblebee, despite the fact that he was originally unsure of the alien robot’s objectives. Easily the best movie on this list.
