We follow her adaptation to the school her parent went and while getting to know her and her peculiar fellow students, we are drawn into an intriguing series of murders that are connected with Wednesday and her ancestors.

What it’s about: This horror thriller is loosely based on the famous 17th-century witch trials. It explores and gives us an insight into the background behind the trials and all the motives that were hiding behind them. It also uncovers the dark and supernatural truth behind these hideous crimes. 

Why you should watch it: This is a somewhat different view on the Salem witch trials. It doesn’t deal only with witches and their spells but it goes even further, tackling the issue of different sacrificing and showing us a darker side of the whole story than we are used to.

Interview With the Vampire (2022 – )

What it’s about: This show is based on Rice’s most popular novel, Interview With the Vampire. In 2022 we meet vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac who lives in Dubai and is about to tell his story to a famous journalist Daniel Molloy. We are taken back to the beginning of the 20th century in New Orleans where we follow Louis and his friends, vampire Lestat du Lioncourt and a teen named Claudia.

Why you should watch it: If you are a fan of Rice’s brilliant novel and a great movie adaptation with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in leading roles, you might get interested in seeing what they have done in this newest version of this well-known story. A Discovery of Witches (2018 – 2022)

What it’s about: This is another very well-made book adaptation, written by Deborah Harkness. It tells the story of Diana Bishop, a historian, and a witch, responsible for solving the mystery of Ashmole 782, the most important writing by Elias Ashmole. She is offered help from the charming and secretive Matthew Clairmont who happens to be a vampire which makes everything pretty complicated since witches should never trust vampires.

Why you should watch it: This is a slow-paced mystery drama that won’t leave you with that wow effect you might expect when you hear about its story. But if you are into discovering and want to learn more about witches and their relationship with vampires and other supernatural beings, this is a show for you.

Castlevania (2017 – 2021)

What it’s about: This is an animated horror fantasy that tells the story of Dracula’s search for revenge after his beloved wife Liza was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. He declares war on the people of Wallachia and unleashes a great number of demonic creatures from hell. But there is a man who will stand against him, Trevor Belmont, the last survivor of the Belmont clan, known for being a skilled monster hunter.

Why you should watch it: This is an excellent story that depicts Dracula as a monster with many human characteristics and brings us a human hero with numerous flaws. It is a brilliant animation with excellent voicing, an interesting story, a lot of action, and great effects.

The Magicians (2015 – 2020)

What it’s about: This is a drama fantasy about a group of students who have been recruited to a secretive academy where they learn that the magic they have been reading about as children is real and more dangerous than they could have ever imagined. The most important thing is whether their powers will be of use when they might need them the most.

Why you should watch it: This is a very good and interesting fantasy tv show that focuses more on its characters and their relationships and connections to magic itself. If you don’t expect a lot of special effects and a completely unknown and original story, you might actually like it a lot. 

His Dark Materials (2019 – 2022)

What it’s about: In His Dark Materials we meet and follow Lyra, an orphan who lives in a parallel universe. It is the world of theology, magic, and science where she will learn that it is more than anyone would have ever imagined. While searching for her kidnapped friend, she will discover a scary project that involves stolen children, and together with a boy named Will, she will embark on an adventure full of other discoveries, and secrets.

Why you should watch: This is an excellent tv show based on a beloved novel by Phillip Pullman and definitely a must-watch for the whole family. It has an interesting story, a wonderful cast and it’s visually stunning.

The Secret Circle (2011 – 2012)

What it’s about: Cassie is a 16-year-old girl who moves from California to Chance Harbor, Washington to live with her grandmother. Soon she falls in love with a mysterious boy named Adam who turns out to be a witch, together with a group of friends who attend her new high school. She befriends their leader Diana but also discovers that she is dating Adam, which will cause more problems than anticipated. 

Why you should watch it: Even though it has been canceled after two years of airing, this series is definitely worth watching, especially if you don’t want to see any more vampires and werewolves running around. It is interesting and intriguing and appealing to audiences of all ages, but especially teenagers. 

Witches of East End (2013 – 2014)

What it’s about: This horror drama fantasy tells the story of a mother and her two daughters who don’t know they belong to a family of witches. Their lives are quiet, pretty usual, and without a lot of drama, but when one of them gets engaged to a rich newcomer in their secluded town of North Hampton, their mother will be forced to reveal the secret to them.

Why you should watch it: Another show that has been canceled too soon, but that will definitely keep you interested until its very end. It is firstly a family story that becomes a fantasy horror full of twists and intriguing plots, with a brilliant female cast, including Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan, and Mädchen Amick.

Why you should watch it: One of the first and most beloved shows about witches that shouldn’t be missed. It is a story about a family and sisterly bond, one that can’t be broken by the most powerful sorcerers. It is charming, witty, and at times adorable, with a perfect cast, including Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, and Holly Marie Combs.
