Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere in less than a month, and fans are already buzzing with excitement. The series will see the return of familiar faces, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen.

One of the most highly anticipated comebacks is Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. His return has been confirmed through interviews and set leaks, with behind-the-scenes footage showing him fighting alongside Daredevil in several action-packed scenes.

The showrunners admitted that his storyline remained even after the show underwent creative changes. Showrunner Dario Scardapane, who previously worked on The Punisher series, shared that working with Bernthal is always intense and rewarding.

Working with Jon and working with that character is always really intense, really satisfying

While many details about the Punisher’s role are still secret, producer Brad Winderbaum hinted that Matt seeks out Frank for help with something he can’t handle himself. As the season progresses, Frank’s involvement escalates, leading to some wild moments in the finale.

[Matt] goes to Frank because he needs something done that he’s unwilling to do. And Frank, a bull in a china shop, drives right to the heart of the matter. As you get later in the season, especially in the culmination, Frank’s appearances are just insane.

But Bernthal’s Punisher wasn’t the only character rumored to return before his role was confirmed—Elodie Yung’s Elektra has also been a topic of speculation. Fans are eager to see her back, and recent casting listings suggest she may reprise her role. Exploring Elektra’s role will also have to address the Hand, and as it turns out it might happen.

Producer Sana Amanat acknowledged that they haven’t been forgotten, saying the team hopes to explore them further in the future.

One-hundred percent it’s in the back of our heads. Eventually we’ll try to figure out a bit more with that.
