Cameron Diaz Is Out Of Acting Retirement To Star In A Netflix Movie With Jamie Foxx
Cameron Diaz, an American actress best known for starring in The Mask, Vanilla Sky, There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels, and the Shrek franchise, hasn’t been seen on either small or the big screen since Annie, which was released in 2014. Diaz announced back then that she was done with acting.
Since then, she published a few books and launched an organic wine brand. But now, eight years since her last movie, she is set to return to acting with a Netflix movie Back in Action, in which she’s set to star alongside Jamie Foxx, Variety has learned. Jaime Foxx confirmed the report on his official Twitter account.
“Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!” — Cameron Diaz on her Instagram Story
Diaz and Foxx previously worked together on 1999’s Any Given Sunday and 2014’s Annie, which was Diaz’s last movie role before retiring. Foxx is also executive producing their upcoming film Back in Action, with a screenplay written by Brendan O’Brien and Seth Gordon, and Gordon set to direct. The plot is currently unknown.
Although she made her last movie role in 2014, Diaz didn’t announce her acting retirement before 2018, and four years later, it took Ray, Django Unchained, Baby Driver, and Spider-Man: No Way Home star to get her back in action (pun unintended).
