Daredevil Viewers Are Letting Marvel Down Big Time

Marvel’s latest TV offering, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, hit Disney+ with a thud instead of a bang. We’re talking about Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer turned vigilante, back in action with Charlie Cox slipping into the red suit once more. It’s a gritty reboot of the Netflix series that fans loved, but the numbers? They’re not screaming success. In its first five days, it pulled in 7.5 million views. Decent, sure, but when you stack it against other recent Marvel and Star Wars shows, it’s looking a little weak.

Let’s talk comparisons. ‘Agatha All Along’, that quirky WandaVision spinoff with Kathryn Hahn chewing scenery as the sassy witch Agatha Harkness, racked up 9.3 million views in seven days. That’s nearly 2 million more than ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, even with two extra days to count. Then there’s ‘The Acolyte’, the Star Wars series with lightsabers and lesbian space witches—love it or hate it, it grabbed 11.1 million views in just five days. That leaves Daredevil trailing by almost 4 million. Ouch.

So, what’s going on here? ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ brings back Cox alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as the menacing Kingpin, Wilson Fisk. It’s dark, it’s brutal, and it’s got that street-level vibe the original Netflix show nailed. The first two episodes dropped on March 4, 2025, and early reviews are solid—think bloody fight scenes and a story that doesn’t pull punches. But maybe the hype didn’t carry over from the old days. Or maybe Marvel’s TV slate is just too crowded now.

Over on the ‘Agatha All Along’ side, Hahn’s witchy antics started strong last September. The show leaned hard into practical effects, keeping costs low—rumor has it, it’s the cheapest live-action Marvel series yet. It’s a wild ride down the Witches’ Road, with Joe Locke and Aubrey Plaza adding some spark. Still, its viewership dipped later, hinting that not everyone stuck around for the broomstick twists.

‘The Acolyte’, meanwhile, stormed out of the gate in June 2024. Set in the High Republic era, it follows a Jedi investigation with Amandla Stenberg leading the charge. Big budget, big buzz—$230 million big—but it couldn’t hold the crowd. Disney axed it after one season. Seems like a hot start doesn’t always mean a strong finish.

Back to Daredevil. Charlie Cox has been at this since 2015, when the Netflix series kicked off. Three seasons of rooftop brawls built a loyal following, and his cameo in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ had me cheering. ‘Born Again’ is meant to evolve that legacy, not just rehash it. They’ve got nine episodes total, and it’s sitting at No. 1 on Disney+ right now. Will it climb higher? Hard to say, but 7.5 million in five days isn’t topping charts like Loki’ Season 2 did with 10.9 million in three.

Here’s a fun twist—‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is the top premiere on Disney+ for 2025 so far. But it’s early March, so that’s not saying much. I’d love to see it overtake ‘Agatha All Along’ at least. The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen deserves better than being outshined by a witch and some Jedi. What do you think—can Matt Murdock punch his way to the top?
