Demon King Tanjirō vs. Yoriichi: Who Would Win in a Fight?

Share:

In terms of Demon Slayer, the best-known and most important fight was that between Tanjirō and Muzan, of course, which ended the story on a very epic note. But that wasn’t actually the most epic fight in the story. The most epic fight in Demon Slayer happened many years before the main storyline, when the most powerful demon, Muzan Kibutsuji, fought the most powerful Demon Slayer, Yoriichi Tsugikuni. And, since we’ve already written about that fight, we are going to talk about the next best thing – thy hypothetical clash between Demon King Tanjirō and Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and tell you who would win in that fight.

Yoriichi Tsugikuni would be able to defeat Demon King Tanjirō had they ever fought because Demon King Tanjirō was basically Muzan, and it is a well-known fact how the fight between Muzan and Yoriichi ended. In their fight, Yoriichi was able to easily overpower Muzan and discovered his weak points after very little time, which enabled him to defeat him easily and almost kill him. He would be able to do the same to Demon King Tanjirō and thus win.

Now that you have the short version of the answer, the rest of the article will be divided into three sections, with the first two introducing the characters, their powers, and their abilities. We cannot really use our usual point system because Demons are difficult to compare with Demon Slayers since most of the categories we could use don’t really match up (e.g., Demons don’t use Katana, whereas Demon Slayers do, or Demons have their Blood Powers, whereas Demon Slayers have completely different abilities). In the end, we will give our final verdict and explain why Yoriichi is undoubtedly, stronger than Demon King Tanjirō.

How powerful is Demon King Tanjirō?

Demon King Tanjirō is a name given to Tanjirō Kamado’s final Demonic form after he had been turned into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. It was Muzan’s final attempt at destroying Tanjirō, but he was ultimately unsuccessful thanks to the efforts of Tanjirō’s sister, Nezuko Kamado, and Kanao. In this section, we will tell you all the narrative details concerning the character.

Although Tamayo’s humanizing medication quickly converted Tanjirō back to a human, his demon strength appears to be on par with an Upper Moon, if not Muzan himself. Later, Yushiro claimed that Tanjirō’s ability to evolve as a demon was far greater than that of his sister, who was the first demon to achieve sunlight resistance, and Muzan.

Tanjirō had incredible regenerative abilities, comfortably rivaling an Upper Moon. He recovered from all of the injuries he sustained during his fights with Akaza and Muzan, receded the growth on his face caused by Muzan’s poisoning, and later regenerated the damage he received after becoming a demon. In seconds, sunlight was created. He could also instantly regrow his severed arm. Tanjirō’s regeneration speed and his resistance to sunlight made him virtually invincible, according to Giyu.

Tanjirō is initially damaged by sunlight after his first transformation, just like any other demon would be. Still, he quickly resists it and can soon wander around in broad daylight without suffering harm. He may be able to accomplish this because, as Muzan remarked just before he passed away, he is related to Nezuko, a demon who overcame the sun, and since his skills appear to be his own. Giyu asserted that Tanjirō was practically unbeatable due to his accelerated regeneration and immunity to sunlight.

Giyu claims that Tanjirō’s immunity to the sun also makes him resistant to the Bright Red Nichirin Swords. Tanjirō, like Muzan, has shown signs of shapeshifting, probably because he shares Muzan’s blood. He can develop thorn-like protrusions from his back that spread out like whip-like blades and considerably enhance the range of his attacks. Tanjirō, though, hasn’t demonstrated Muzan’s proficiency in using them, perhaps due to his thinking. Tanjirō is claimed to have acquired what seems to be Blood Demon Art after Muzan temporarily transformed him into a demon. Wave and energy manipulation are the foundation of his abilities. His specific Blood Demon Art techniques include:

NameDescription
Shockwave Energy BlastTanjirō’s screams, like Muzan’s, can cause a powerful shockwave, most likely because he inherited his blood. The technique is powerful enough to resurrect Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Goto as they attempt to restrain him; only Nezuko can hold on.
Energy BeamTanjirō has the ability to fire an energy beam from his mouth. The technique is strong enough to form a small crater. When Nezuko put her hand in front of her mouth, she came out with only a bleeding hand, despite Giyu’s assurances that he wasn’t trying to harm her.

How strong was Yoriichi Tsugikuni?

Yoriichi Tsugikuni is a major supporting character in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. During the Sengoku Era, he was a legendary Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps. Yoriichi is the younger twin brother of Michikatsu Tsugikuni, who later became a demon and joined the Twelve Demonic Moons, serving as Upper First Moon.

Who Is Yoriichi Tsugikuni and Is He the Strongest Demon Slayer?

Yoriichi was an incredibly strong warrior. During his training to become a Demon Slayer, he was already capable of defeating numerous Demons; his brother, Michikatsu, stated that even as a child, Yoriichi could defeat him in his adult age. He still remains the only Demon Slayer who was able to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji in a fight, making him flee to save his life; otherwise, Yoriichi would have killed him. He was also able to overpower Kokushibo, the Upper Moon One.

During his fight with his demonized brother, Yoriichi was – despite being old and blind – still able to overpower his brother and slice his throat, nearly killing him, before ultimately succumbing to his own injuries. Kokushibo himself admitted that had Yoriichi been able to land a second blow to his neck before dying. He definitely would have died, despite the fact that Yoriichi was old and blind at the time.

Is Yoriichi Related to Tanjiro?

Yoriichi developed the original Sun Breathing Style that was later used by Sumiyoshi, who gave it the name Hinokami Kagura. Yoriichi was an expert at Sun Breathing, easily defeating demons and even overpowering Muzan, the Demon King, as well as the strongest Upper Rank. Yoriichi is known as the most skilled swordsman in the history of Demon Slayer. Even while he was still a child that had absolutely no training, the first time he took a katana in his hand, he was able to defeat an experienced swordsman in a fight, landing several quick blows all over his body; the blows were so quick that no one was able to perceive them properly.

Demon King Tanjirō vs. Yoriichi Tsugikuni: Who would win?

As we have said, comparing a Demon and a Demon Slayer is basically impossible because they use different skills and abilities, and there wouldn’t be many identical categories, well, at least if we’re considering a proper comparison. This is why we explained the powers and abilities of the two characters before giving our final verdict, and it is as follows – Yoriichi would win the fight against Demon King Tanjirō.

This is basically due to the fact that Demon King Tanjirō is basically Muzan, but with some enhancements. We now know that Yoriichi was able to defeat Muzan and even Kokushibo, so at the peak of his powers, nothing that Tanjirō contributed to his Demon King form would be enough to defeat Yoriichi, as it simply isn’t enough; the Muzan part is not a problem for Yoriichi, but even with all of Tanjirō’s enhancements, Demon King Tanjirō would still fall in a battle with the greatest Demon Slayer in history.
