Demon Slayer: Does Inosuke Get Married?
Inosuke Hashibira is one of the protagonists of Demon Slayer and one of the series’ most popular characters without a doubt. This quirky character, best known for being shirtless most of the time and for wearing a boar mask, is a true fan favorite because he is original and authentic and he is always consistent with himself. But, due to his specific personality, people often wonder how Inosuke’s story ended in Demon Slayer, and in this article, we are going to tell you what happened to him and whether he got married in Demon Slayer.
Inosuke Hashibira does, indeed, get married in Demon Slayer to none other than Aoi Kanzaki, one of the helpers at the Butterfly Mansion. Not much is known about the marriage save that it was a happy one and that Inosuke and Aoi had a descendant named Aoba, who becomes a botanist and much later discovers the blue spider lilies that Muzan had searched for but soon after, they wither and die.
In the rest of this article, we are going to tell you what you need to know about whether Inosuke Hashibira ever got married. We now know that he did get married to Aoi Kanzaki, which was a very interesting coupling if you ask us, and we are going to bring you all the details. If you’re not fully up to date with Demon Slayer, there might be some spoilers ahead.
Does Inosuke Hashibira get married in Demon Slayer?
Out of all the Demon Slayer characters, Inosuke is the quirkiest one, and… we really did not think that it would come to us writing about his personal life and marriage. Inosuke is simply not that type of character and we did not think that he would end up with anyone. But, as it turns out, the much controversial ending of Demon Slayer actually saw Inosuke Hashibira end up with someone, and that someone was Aoi Kanzaki. But, before we actually explain this story, let us quickly see why Inosuke was not the ideal spousal candidate and why his story surprised us all.
Inosuke was extremely temperamental, impulsive, short-tempered, and full of inordinate pride. His pride was such that he was even willing to fight opponents who were technically stronger than him. He was not the kind of person who would stop to think about the level difference between him and his opponent, which often put him in serious danger of dying.
Despite this, Inosuke deep down seemed to have an insecurity that he hid with his arrogant attitude for not knowing how to adapt to those around him and because of his fear of being rejected for being different. His low self-esteem is revealed after his defeat against one of the Spider Demons and later humiliation by the Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka, even apologizing to his teammates for his weakness. Because he grew up alone in the mountains, Inosuke had a lot of problems when he had to interact with others and only took records of himself most of the time.
Similar to Tanjiro, Inosuke lacked common sense and was easily amazed by things and places he had never seen before. When they were about to go to the train where the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, was, Inosuke was put on guard and assumed that the train was the “boss” of that place and was prepared to fight against it, being stopped and suppressed by Zenitsu.
Over the course of the series, Inosuke became more centered and focused on his missions as a demon slayer, as demonstrated during the mission in the Entertainment District when he infiltrated as a courtesan and was quietly investigating the possibility of a demon’s presence there. place, demonstrating also possess a competent ability to analyze.
Having said all of this, it shouldn’t really come off as a surprise that Inosuke was not a character we’d thought would end up getting married. He was rash, he behaves like an animal, and although he did grow a lot, we still thought that Inosuke would end up as the series’ enfant terrible, but that did not happen as he ended up with, as we have said, Aoi Kanzaki. Now, sadly, there isn’t much of a story to tell here, as the relationship never developed properly in the pages of Demon Slayer. It kind of just happened.
Sure, Inosuke met Aoi in the Butterfly Mansion and she did care for him, but she did the same to Zenitsu and Tanjiro, and it did not seem like Inosuke liked her all that much. But, fast forward a bit, and one meal later, Inosuke falls in love with Aoi. The next moment, Inosuke is back in the field and when he returns, we find out that he eventually marries Aoi and that they have a happy marriage and a family that extends to the current day. Cool, right?
Well, it is, in a way, but we cannot really give Gotoge points for developing this properly. Inosuke and Aoi ending up together seem more like an ex-Machina solution that had Inosuke ending up with someone so that he wouldn’t end up alone. It didn’t make much sense, although we are actually happy that it happened. Happy for him, that is because he certainly deserved it because of his overall evolution.
But, it did not have to be Aoi, really… Gotoge seems to have paired these two up because they did not have anyone else, so he just coupled them up together. Be that as it may, Inosuke Hashibira did end up together with Aoi Kanzaki and the two of them did end up marrying, which is one of the prettier Demon Slayer tales, although it wasn’t all that credible or based on any actual in-manga interaction between the two characters.
Who has Inosuke shipped with in Demon Slayer?
Now, we do know that Inosuke ended up with Aoi, but he was shipped by the fandom with several other characters over the course of the series. In this section, we are going to list these ships and explain the nature of Inosuke’s relationship with these female characters.
Shinobu Kocho
Shinobu picks up on the tactics she used on Tanjiro for controlling Inosuke fast and realizes that she can get him to perform any duty by casting doubt on his capability. Inosuke treats Shinobu with his customary contempt and hostility, even threatening to rip out her chest when he takes offense at the latter’s skepticism. Inosuke clearly grew fond of Shinobu after tending to him when he was hurt, and after learning that Doma had absorbed her, he vowed to exact revenge for her death.
Inosuke unintentionally thought of his mother as a result of Shinobu’s tone and usage of the phrase “promised sworn” with him. We also observe that Shinobu is one of the few individuals whose name Inosuke never forgets.
Kanao Tsuyuri
During training, Inosuke barely interacts with anyone. His activities occasionally gave him an unusual appearance, such as when he clung to the ceiling or dislocated and moved every joint in his arm. However, as they unite to fight Doma, who had killed both of their respective beloved ones, the two subsequently create a battle-forged friendship.
Despite neither of them being a Hashira, the pair works well together and, with the aid of Shinobu’s poison, they are able to defeat one of the series’ most powerful demons. After that, despite not speaking to one another, they do share a moment of silence to remember the families that Doma took from them both. They have a little conversation when they come back to battle Muzan, and they seem to get along well.
Aoi Kanzaki
At the Butterfly Mansion, they had their first encounter. He initially finds it difficult to outperform Aoi in every task because he lacks willpower. Later on, he succeeds in adapting and defeating her. He treated her harsher than Zenitsu and Tanjiro did. He was one of the murderers who offered to go on a mission with Tengen to the Pleasure District in Aoi’s place.
He was brought back to the Butterfly Mansion when the battle with the Sixth Upper Moon was over. Inosuke is in such bad shape, and Aoi can be seen to be upset about it. She feared it was too late to stop the bleeding because he had poison in his system. However, his tears swiftly dried up when he dropped from the ceiling. She starts bickering with Inosuke once more as she grows to dislike him.
He exits Tanjiro’s room in the Butterfly Mansion and goes to the kitchen to seek food. He tries to sneak food, but Aoi sees him and stops him. She gives him a circular platter of food that was specifically prepared for Inosuke and instructs him to eat from it whenever and however much he pleases. After making this move, Inosuke clearly starts to like her. She eventually marries Inosuke Hashibira, and the couple had Aoba Hashibira as their great-grandson.
