Mitsuri Kanroji is a major supporting character in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps and the current Love Hashira. Mitsuri Kanroji played a large role in the manga, and with the Swordsmith Village Arc finally being adapted into an anime, we can finally expect to see more of her in the anime as well. Mitsuri might seem like a simple character trope, but she had a very interesting and powerful backstory. This article will be dedicated to her, as we will tell you why Mitsuri Kanroji joined the Demon Slayer Corps in the first place.

Mitsuri Kanroji was very different from a young age, as she was much stronger than all the people around her, which was strange because she was a girl. After a breakup, she was told to accept her special traits, after which she joined the Demon Slayer Corps. While there, she also entertained the idea of finding a husband for herself, someone, stronger than her, but that did not work out initially, although she would later become very close with Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira.

This article will be the most informative guide on Mitsuri Kanroji you need. We will give you a full introduction to her story and some other related aspects of Mitsuri’s personality. You’ll get many answers related to Mitsuri Kanroji, as we plan on providing you with everything you need related to the question at hand. We have to warn you, though, that the article is going to contain some spoilers, so be careful how you approach it.

Mitrusi Kanroji has always been special

Mitsuri, one of five siblings born during the Meiji era, shocked even her strong mother when she demonstrated supernatural power at a young age. This was a result of her special muscle composition. She grew up eating far more than the norm and acquired an abnormal hair color (as a result of consuming too much sakura mochi), which made her seem freakish and prevented her from getting married as was anticipated of her at the age of seventeen.

In an effort to blend in more with the other girls after this rejection, she dyed her hair black, seemed to be weak, and made herself consume a normal amount of food even though it pained her. Soon after making these changes to her physical appearance, a potential companion approached Mitsuri.

However, she started questioning whether posing as someone else would ultimately benefit her. She or her partner eventually parted ways. Then Mitsuri met Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who advised her to embrace her uniqueness and reject normalcy because her power was a special gift and not something she should be ashamed of. She met the Demon Slayers through this encounter, where she used her power and talents to become a Hashira.

She supported the notion of marrying a guy who was stronger than her while she was a member of the organization, but it didn’t work out because she was stronger and more talented than the other slayers, except her fellow Hashira, of course, but this was understandable. She began collaborating with Kyojuro Rengoku, and during one of their battles, she created her own breath called Love Breathing.

Now, as the years passed, Mitsuri Kanroji became an important factor in the Demon Slayer Corps and one of its most capable Hashira. She was known for her cheery and flirty personality, but she was also very kind to others and cared a lot about them; this was seen when Nezuko, whom the Hashira tried to kill initially, went to hug Mitsuri as soon as she welcomed Tanjiro and her in the Swordsmith Village. She was also genuinely happy to see Tanjiro when he arrived. Another one of her major trademarks is her ability to eat superhuman amounts of food while retaining her slim figure. She usually says she just had a nibble when she’s finished eating while columns of empty plates pile up around her.

But, this was the story of Mitsuri and her joining the Demon Slayer Corps; we still have one interesting thing we’d like to tell you: did Mitsuri find the love she was looking for in the Corps?

Mitrusi found what she was looking for in Obanai Iguro

As we have stated, the Hashira were the only members of the Demon Slayer Corps who could match Mitsuri in terms of powers and strength. And while she seemed to have abandoned her pursuit for a husband, which was one of the main reasons for her joining the Corps, as she said to Tanjiro, a romance still developed in the series, and we are going to tell you about it in this section.

Namely, although Mitsuri seemed to care for everyone around her, which makes sense considering her Breathing Style, she had the strongest feelings for Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira. Iguro was, in a way, different like Mitsuri and was shunned by society because of who he was. In that aspect, the two of them shared a common trait, and it is understandable how emotions developed between the two of them. The two of them shared a lot of moments together, and they even participated in the final fight against Muzan, where they sadly passed away basically at the same time, in one of the most tragic scenes of the sholw series.

But before passing away, Mitsuri shared a heartfelt moment with her beloved Obanai. They could finally admit their feelings for one another just before they passed away, and both of them knew it. Again crying, she tells him how she feels and begs Obanai to promise that when they are reincarnated, they will be together. Obanai agrees. This is why Mitsuri’s passing was so tragic and terrible, but we did learn some good news later when we learned that Obanai and Mitsuri did wed in the course of the story after being reborn.
