Did Ahsoka Know About Anakin and Padme?
In the Star Wars universe, one of the things that fans know is the fact that Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala were in love with one another. While that may not be a secret among fans, the thing is that this was a secret in the Star Wars universe, as Anakin and Padme hardly told anyone that they were married. Nevertheless, there were a lot of people that worked closely with both Anakin and Padme, and that included Ahsoka. So, did Ahsoka know about Anakin and Padme?
It was hinted in Star Wars: Forces of Destiny that Ahsoka had an idea of what was going on between Anakin and Padme as she saw how close they were. This means that she knew that Anakin and Padme were in love with one another. Then again, she probably never knew that they were married.
The fact that Anakin and Padme were close to a lot of different people during the events of the Clone Wars made it difficult for them to truly hide their feelings for one another and the fact that they were married. Of course, their friends were neither blind nor stupid, which meant that some of them were bound to catch up to what was going on, as that was the case for Ahsoka.
Did Ahsoka Know About Padme And Anakin?
One of the things that we knew about the entire Star Wars lore, especially during the events of the Clone Wars or the prequel trilogy, is the fact that Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala were in love. Their love blossomed in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones as they ended up marrying one another in secret. Of course, their marriage eventually gave way to the birth of Luke and Leia.
But while it might be true that Anakin and Padme were in love, they kept their love a secret from the rest of the galaxy due to the fact that Jedi were forbidden to form attachments and get married. Of course, as a senator, Padme also needed to make sure that her public image didn’t mix with her private affairs, as it was important for her to make sure that she was focused on her job as a representative of the people of the Republic.
Then again, we also know that there were a lot of people that worked together with Anakin and Padme during the events of the Clone Wars. Obi-Wan Kenobi was a given, as he already knew that Anakin loved Padme. He even knew that Anakin and Padme were romantically involved but merely turned a blind eye to it because of how happy his former Padawan and best friend were with Padme.
But as Obi-Wan once told Padme, he was not blind. That meant that he always knew that there was something going on between Anakin and Padme due to the fact that they were close. Of course, Anakin’s feelings almost always gave his relationship with Padme away because he always prioritized her safety above anything else.
Other than Obi-Wan, Ahsoka was a character that closely worked with both Anakin and Padme. She served as Anakin’s Padawan learner and ended up becoming close friends with Padme due to the many missions that they worked on together. That means that she was someone who was always with either or both of them. But did Ahsoka Tano actually know about Anakin and Padme being romantically involved?
The Star Wars: Clone Wars series didn’t allow us to see whether or not Ahsoka was aware of what was going on between her master and the senator, but this was something that was hinted at in a series of animated shorts called Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, which is canon to the Star Wars lore.
In episode 2 of Forces of Destiny, Ahsoka went on a mission with Anakin and Padme. Of course, Anakin didn’t like the fact that his Padawan was interrupting his time with Padme. Nevertheless, Ahsoka was indispensable on that mission because she helped save their ship from an attack by the Separatists.
After escaping their attackers, Ahsoka noticed how Anakin and Padme were embracing in an affectionate way. She commented that they worked well together and that Anakin and Padme made a good team. Ahsoka did so with a smile that was somewhat sad, as it was clear that she knew what was going on between Anakin and Padme.
While this was only a quick moment between Anakin and Padme, it was already more than enough for Ahsoka to catch on to what was happening between them. That meant that she had an idea that her master and the Naboo senator were in love with one another. This explains why Ahsoka was kind of sad, as she knew that love and marriage were forbidden by the Jedi.
Then again, Ahsoka probably didn’t know that Anakin and Padme were married, as not even Kenobi caught on to that. Both Ahsoka and Obi-Wan probably only knew that Anakin and Padme had deep romantic feelings for one another.
Like Obi-Wan, Ahsoka never made a big deal out of this fact because she saw how happy Anakin was with Padme. But neither of them ever imagined that this love that Anakin had for Padme was the gateway to his transformation from Jedi to Sith, as it was his feelings for his wife that made him betray everyone to become Darth Vader.
Who Else Knew About Anakin And Padme?
Of course, as mentioned, two of the closest people to Anakin and Padme, had a good idea of what was going on between them. That’s because both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano were proven to be aware of the fact that Anakin and Padme were in love. But who else knew about Anakin and Padme?
In Star Wars: Clone Wars season 7, episode 2, we learned that there was another character that was aware of what was going on between the Jedi Knight and the senator. We are talking about Captain Rex, who is the most renowned clone that served under the Galactic Republic. He was the clone that was the closest to Anakin as they went on several missions together. In that episode, it was suggested that Anakin may have told Rex what Padme was to him so that the clone could cover for him whenever he needed to have some time with his wife.
While Captain Rex may be a clone that is loyal to the Republic, he is also a clone loyal to his friendship with Anakin because they went on many missions together and shared a lot of time as comrades and friends. This implies that Rex, at one point in time, found out about Anakin’s secret when the Jedi general told him about it. And the reason why Anakin probably told Rex about his marriage with Padme was so that he could cover for him and find a way to make sure that no one else knew about it.
Of course, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious always had an idea of what was going on between Anakin and Padme as he was privy to almost everything that was happening during the events of the Clone Wars. In fact, he used Anakin’s feelings for Padme as a way to corrupt him and turn him over to the dark side.
So, as big of a secret as Anakin’s marriage with Padme was, it wasn’t entirely a secret because there were a few people that were aware of what was going on. Nevertheless, it was a secret that some people didn’t mind due to the fact that there were concerns that were more important. And the only character to ever realize how important this relationship is to Anakin, was Palpatine, who manipulated him into becoming his apprentice by using his love for Padme as a bargaining chip.
