Disney Accidentally Reveals ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’s Major Villain Twist in New Trailer

The recent release of the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ showcased plenty of action, aligning with creator Leslye Headland’s previous assurances. However, the trailer also unveiled something unexpected—a mistakenly included subtitle.

At the 0:20 mark, Amandla Stenberg, set to portray Mae, former padawan of Lee Jung-jae’s Master Sol, is heard saying, “I didn’t do it.” However, the subtitle mistakenly attributed the dialogue to “Osha” instead of Mae.

So, what’s the significance of this subtitle? If you’ve been following ‘Acolyte,’ you’ll know that one of the show’s major mysteries revolves around the killing of Jedi—someone is hunting them down and eliminating them.

‘The Acolyte’ has been teased in the trailers as a dark force user who is likely responsible. Fans have long speculated that Mae, a character hinted to be this “dark force user,” actually has a twin sister named Osha, who may still be training under Jedi Master Sol’s guidance.

Osha will be the twin responsible for the murders, aiming to frame her sister Mae, adhering to Sith tactics. Mae, who departed from the Jedi order for reasons yet undisclosed, will become an easy target. This narrative aligns with Leslye Headland’s vision of urging viewers to empathize with the underdog, with Mae fitting that role. While Mae may not fully align with the Jedi order, it doesn’t mean she’s Sith.

The existence of Mae’s twin sister was hinted at in the posters, where the Sith acolyte depicted shares Mae’s hairstyle.

‘The Acolyte’ is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, with its first two episodes. Subsequently, the remaining six episodes will be released weekly. Share your thoughts in the comments below!
