Frank Grillo Reacts to ‘Superman’ Trailer and David Corenswet: “my skin was hot and I had goosebumps”

James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe will officially begin with Creature Commandos, set to release on December 5, 2024. While they’ve said the true start will be with Superman in 2025, not much is known about the movie yet, except for some set leaks.

However, we do know it will include many characters, some familiar from live-action and others making their first appearance.

Set leaks during filming revealed that Frank Grillo will reprise his role from Creature Commandos in the live-action Superman movie, with Rick Flag Sr. seen “arresting” Superman in one scene. In a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Grillo excitedly described his time on set as a unique experience and shared that superheroes weren’t a big part of his childhood.

I wasn’t a superhero kid. I wasn’t a comic book kid, but the one superhero — and I’m talking about from the TV show, the original TV show — was Superman. To me, he’s the ultimate and only superhero, second to maybe no one, and a long distance from that is Batman, right? Those are the two superheroes I grew up with. But to step on set and to know Gunn was at the helm, even in the capacity that I was working, was a gift

Grillo also shared his thoughts on the highly-anticipated Superman trailer, offering nothing but praise for it.

And I’ll tell you something — I hope I don’t get in trouble for this — I got a sneak peek at a little bit of the trailer, and I’m not joking, and I’m not blowing this out of proportion, my skin was hot and I had goosebumps. That’s how great it is.”

Gunn recently confirmed that the Superman trailer is ready and saved on his hard drive, but it’s still unclear when we’ll get our first look at the live-action DCU.

Grillo also shared his thoughts on co-star David Corenswet. After Henry Cavill’s departure from the Superman role, many fans were vocal about Cavill being irreplaceable, but Grillo’s comments might change their perspective.

By the way, this kid, David [Corenswet], is going to be a superstar. A superstar. He’s amazing, as is the rest of the cast in the film, and just James’ take on it. I think it’s gonna be the movie.
