Frieren: Are Fern and Stark in Love? Will They End Up Together?
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is an anime and manga series that is focused on the adventures of the titular protagonist, the Elf Frieren, and her companions, which consist of the original Hero Group and her current companions. In this article, we will again focus on two members of the current Hero Party, Fern and Stark, and we will explain their relationship. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is still a young anime series in that it has only recently premiered, although the manga already has a solid number of volumes up for adaptation, and seeing how the story is quite popular globally, we assume that there will be more seasons of this great fantasy show. Now, the focus of this article will be the nature of the relationship between Fern, Frieren’s young apprentice who is in many ways similar to her mentor, and Stark, Eisen’s former protege who is not a party member.

Fern and Frieren are very similar, yet it’s clear that Fern is a human and Frieren is an elf. Her past required her to develop into a very responsible and mature adult from an early age, and as she gets older, this is even clearer. She cares for Frieren and Stark as if she were the group’s mother.
Being a human, it is reasonable that despite her maturity, she also has a very childlike side and gets easily upset when things don’t go her way; she is often irritated by what she interprets as perverted behavior (especially on Stark’s side, although Stark generally has no idea what she is talking about, since he has no intention of being a perv).
Nevertheless, despite her occasional irrationality, she is also very readily calmed down with a typical chat. Furthermore, her ties with Frieren, who took her in and trained her, and Heiter, who took her in, demonstrate how incredibly devoted she is to both roles as an apprentice and a friend.
As for Stark, he is a very strange character personality-wise. He balances between being a true hero, as he is strong and skilled, and being a complete coward, as he hates engaging in tough battles, although this aspect has been improving since he’s been traveling with Frieren. He lied to the village that he defeated the dragon and abused their trust, but when things became dangerous, he stood up for them and helped defeat the monster.
He is a gentle and caring person and wants to help, despite his cowardice; as a child, he was perceived as weak and useless by his warrior father, and the only people who ever showed any affection towards him were his brother, Stoltz, and his mentor, Eisen. He is still a child deep inside and is often clueless about what is going on around him, which irritates Fern on many occasions.
Now, are Fern and Stark compatible with each other? Absolutely. They are friends, and while Stark gets on her nerves occasionally, they have a good relationship that has only improved as the story progresses. Fern undoubtedly cares for Stark, and Stark also cares for Fern. The series has implied that Stark does have some feelings for Fern. Her side is not completely clear in that aspect, but there is a lot of potential for this ship to happen, especially since both are humans of similar ages.
We don’t know what the authors have in store for us in the future, as the series is still ongoing, but based on what we have seen, the ship between Fern and Stark has a lot of potential, and we honestly think that the two of them would make a good couple.
