Grand Theft Auto fans have waited a long time for a proper look at Rockstar’s next entry in the series, and with an official reveal already scheduled, most assumed the wait would finally end on the studio’s own terms. Instead, the past several days have turned into something closer to chaos.

A wave of unauthorized footage has been spreading online since earlier this week, showing glimpses of gameplay, mechanics, and the game’s setting well before Rockstar was ready to share any of it. Each new clip has only fueled more speculation about how extensive the source’s access actually is.

That speculation reached a new level with the release of a fifth leaked video. This latest clip shows protagonist Jason flying a crop duster from the Leonida Keys toward Vice City, with the in-game radio playing “Overpowered” by Roisin Murphy on a station called Stockyard FM.

The footage doesn’t stop at simple flight gameplay either. It ends with Jason landing and firing a scoped rifle at the side of a building, using the bullet impacts to spell out the word “LEEK” across the wall.

That detail matters more than it might seem. Combined with the level of polish and playability shown across all five clips, it strongly suggests the individual or group behind the leaks, who has been operating under the name CYBERLEEK, has direct access to a working, playable build of the game rather than simply stolen video files.

This fifth clip follows a steady stream of unauthorized footage that began earlier in the week. Previous leaks have shown Jason playing basketball, driving through Leonida, getting tangled up with police, and interacting with mechanics like vehicle theft options, taser takedowns, and melee combat.

One earlier clip even included a brief unseen cutscene featuring Jason sharing a beer with someone out on a boat. Alongside the gameplay footage, a full map of the fictional state of Leonida also leaked, revealing five distinct counties, including Vice-Dale, home to Vice City itself.

Beyond the gameplay itself, fans have been picking apart small details for hints about how current the leaked footage actually is. One clip featured Tate McRae’s “Sports Car,” a song originally released in January 2025, playing over the in-game radio during a driving sequence.

That detail suggests the footage reflects a relatively recent build of the game rather than older test material. Combined with confirmation of features like a six-star wanted level system, up from the five-star system used in ‘Grand Theft Auto V,’ the leaks are painting an increasingly detailed picture of what players can expect.

Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two have responded by issuing copyright takedown notices against the leaked material as it spreads, though mirrors and reposts have continued appearing almost as quickly as originals get removed. The group behind the leaks has reportedly made demands of Rockstar as well, though the specifics remain vague.

All of this is unfolding just days before Rockstar’s own planned reveal. An extended look at ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27, followed by a wider release on YouTube the same day.

Whether these leaks end up matching what Rockstar officially unveils remains to be seen, but for a fanbase that has spent years anticipating this game, the unauthorized footage has already given them plenty to dissect. With the official reveal now just a week away, the countdown to separating leaked speculation from confirmed detail is finally almost over.
