HBOMax Censored Birds Of Prey, And Then Brought Back The Original Cut
Birds of Prey and the Fan… yeah, I’m not writing that part. Birds of Prey, a follow-up to David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was released in February 2020. Yep, just before the pandemic knocked on our door. The movie grossed $201 million worldwide, falling short on its $250-300 million breakpoint. This movie was one of the first victims of the pandemic’s influence on cinemas.
Now, the movie can be seen on HBOMax, or can it? Just kidding, yes, it can. However, HBOMax previously uploaded the censored version of the movie, which left many fans confused. But now, it was revealed that that wasn’t intentional – HBOMax uploaded a censored version by mistake. The mistake was quickly corrected, and HBOMax brought back the original, R-rated cut of the movie. We can now only guess why the movie was censored in the first place.
Birds of Prey is the second R-rated movie released by DC Films, after Todd Philips’ Joker. The movie received mostly positive reviews, who praised Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn and Ewan McGregor’s performance as Black Mask. On the other hand, some fans loved it, some didn’t, although mostly everyone agrees that Margot Robbie is the perfect Harley Quinn. Harley’s story continued in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which was released last August. Fans are now expecting news when we’ll see Margot as Harley again. Let’s hope DC has some more plans for her. As for Birds of Prey, the spin-off movie starring Jurnee Smollett as Dinah Lance aka Black Canary is in development. We’re hoping the spin-off will give her a comic-accurate Black Canary suit.
Birds of Prey, the original cut, is now available on HBOMax.
