Skyrim: Here’s Where To Find Woodcutter’s Axe – Location Revealed
As far as weapons go, Skyrim has plenty of them. Legendary, standard, enchanted, ranged, you name it; Skyrim probably has it. And even though most sought-after weapons pack some serious damage, sometimes the weakest weapons generate quite the interest as well. Such is the case with Woodcutter’s Axe. It’s pretty weak as far as stats go, but it’s useful when it comes to earning gold. Due to that, many players are wondering where to find Woodcutter’s Axe in Skyrim.
Woodcutter’s Axe is a common tool but always eludes you when you need it
Woodcutter’s Axe is a special tool that allows you to cut wood at the wood chopping block. Even though Woodcutter’s Axe can serve as a weapon, it’s pretty weak, its base attack damage is a mere 43 points. That base damage cannot be improved by perks or by tempering on a grindstone. It takes the appearance of a simple axe with an iron head and a handle made out of wood.
What is Woodcutter’s Axe used for?
Woodcutter’s Axe is used for cutting wood at the wood chopping block. Besides that, it can be used for combat as well, but due to its low base damage, it’s not as reliable as the vast majority of other weapons.
Woodcutter’s Axe can also be used to generate an infinite amount of gold. When cutting wood, a limit is not actually put in place on how much wood you can chop at the wood chopping block. This leads to a way to earn money by potentially chopping vast quantities of firewood and selling it to traders.
Where to find Woodcutter’s Axe in Skyrim?
You can find Woodcutter’s Axe in all major cities, most settlements, and most places associated with lumber, such as mills. Since Skyrim is a pretty big area in general, we’re going to give you a few concrete pointers as well. You can find Woodcutter’s Axe at the following locations
1. Riverwood
Three Woodcutter’s Axes are available in Riverwood, since this is probably the first settlement you will discover it’s also a good place to pick up a Woodcutters Axe. You can find one axe near Riverwood Lumber Mill, at Faendal’s House, and in the basement of Alvor and Sigrid’s House.
2. Whiterun
As soon as you leave Riverwood, one of the first big cities you will visit will be Whiterun. You can find one Woodcutter’s Axe behind Belethor’s General Goods store, sitting next to the pile of wood.
3. Windhelm
It’s hard to explore Windhelm without coming across a Woodcutter’s Axe. One can be found sitting next to a pile of wood immediately left to the main gate you used to enter the city. One more can be found near the bedroom belonging to Calixto in Calixto’s House of Curiosities.
4. Falkreath
Woodcutter’s Axe can be found in Falkreath as well. Just make your way to the alchemist shop Grave Concoctions; it should be right next to the fireplace.
5. Solitude
If you find yourself in Solitude, you can happen upon two axes in Winking Skeever Inn. One is right next to the counter, and the other one can be found in one of the rooms upstairs.
6. Morthal
While Hjaalmarch hold has only a few known locations where Woodcutter’s Axe can be found, at least one can always be found in Morthal. Just make your way to Morthal Mill, and it should be there, near a pile of firewood.
7. Dawnstar
Like Hjaarmach, the Pale also has only a few locations where axes can be found. One of those locations is Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar. The axe can be found lying on a table outside of the inn.
8. Markarth
When traveling to Markarth, make sure to stop by Silver-Blood Inn, it’s one of the few locations in Markarth where Woodcutter’s Axe can be found. Two additional axes can be found in an Abandoned House and in Understone Keep.
9. Riften
The Rift Hold has probably the most Woodcutter’s Axes available to the player, but to avoid wandering around too much, I recommend you make your way straight to Riften. Once there, you can find 1 axe in Mistveil Keep, in the inn Bee and Barb, and in Honeyside, if you have it purchased that is.
10. Winterhold
If you happen to be far up north and are in need of Woodcutter’s Axe, your best bet to find one in Winterhold is the general store in the town called Birna’s Oddments. One axe will always be there on the crate underneath the staircase.
11. Solstheim
I mean technically, we are discussing only Skyrim, but I’ve still decided to include Solstheim in this guide. To find Woodcutter’s Axe in Solstheim, make your way to the Retching Netch, which is just outside of the inn next to the pile of wood.
With everything said, it’s safe to conclude that the fastest way to obtain Woodcutter’s Axe in Skyrim is to travel to any major city in Skyrim and make your way to the local inn. Usually, the axes can be found outside of the inn as well as inside, near a pile of wood.
Occasionally, hunters roaming the wilds of Skyrim can carry one or two in their inventory, but I wouldn’t consider that as reliable as simply finding one as you visit the many locations we’ve mentioned in this guide.
How to get Woodcutter’s Axe in Skyrim by using console commands?
If you simply don’t have the time to look for an axe or want to add one to your inventory immediately, you can use the player.additem console command. To add Woodcutter’s Axe with console commands, follow these steps:
- Open the console by pressing “~”
- Type player.additem 0002F2F4 1 and press enter
- a single Woodcuter’s Axe should be added to your inventory; you can replace number 1 with any number you want.
And that’s about it. After reading this guide, you should be able to find at least 10 axes. Just stick to the inns and mills, and you should find one in no time.
