‘House of The Dragon’ Targeted By Review-Bombers Due to Unscripted Controversial Kiss – Incest Is Still Fine Though

‘House of the Dragon’ recently released episode 6, we’ve seen both the Greens and the Blacks advancing their war effort. Greens by strengthening their numbers, and Blacks through more subtle means, using a plan that Mysaria developed and Rhaenyra put in motion.
Episode 6 also showed us a budding romance between Mysaria and Rhaenyra, well, it certainly hinted that there’s something more going on between two characters since they share a passionate kiss after Mysaria reveals that she was abused by her father, something which left her scared for life and unable to trust anybody.
The kiss was not part of the book, and neither was it part of the original show’s script. The actress behind Mysaria revealed that the kiss was unscripted and she decided to go for it due to the tender moment that the characters shared.
However, it seems that some portion of fans did not appreciated this type of improv, as episode 6 found itself being review-bombed on IMDb. Episode 6 titled ‘Smallfolk’ currently has a 6.3 rating on IMDb, which means that it’s the lowest-rated episode in the franchise so far.
Keep in mind that almost 50 % of those 1-star reviews are from Saudi Arabia. But if you take into account Western votes, it’s still the lowest-rated episode yet.
Now the reason behind the show being review-bombed is obvious, since there’s a same-sex kiss on screen it’s understandable that some people felt offended, especially fans from cultures that do not condone or promote such behavior.
I have to agree that the kiss felt a bit out of place, but I also have to agree with the fans who pointed out that if our sensibilities have been challenged, there was a line to be drawn far far earlier, back when ‘Game of Thrones’ was airing.
As some fans pointed out, incest apparently seems okay, it’s condoned and celebrated, but lesbian kiss is going too far?
There are also fans who pointed out that episode 6 was boring and ultimately felt like filler, which could explain low ratings. Fans are getting impatient with the slow pacing of season 2, however, you need to keep in mind that the whole show was based on 1/3 of a book. ‘Fire & Blood’ doesn’t deal with Dance of the Dragons exclusively, it deals with Targaryen history in general and a lot has happened before and after the war. There’s limited material to draw from and since the show will get at least one more season, the writers need to pace themselves.
And this is how ‘House of the Dragon’ has joined the infamous review-bombed club, preceded by ‘The Boys’ season 4, and ‘The Acolyte.’
