Since it first appeared in 2014, the John Wick franchise has become one of the most known action franchises of this generation. Although not commercially successful as Fast & Furious or Mission: Impossible, the franchise was successful enough to spawn four movies, and all of them were praised by critics and audiences, particularly because of amazing action sequences and minimal use of cuts during them. John Wick Chapter 4 is now in theaters, and shortly before the premiere, one of the franchise’s main stars, Lance Reddick, passed away. Reddick played the fan-favorite character Charon, the concierge at the New York’s Continental. So in this article, we’ll tell you if Reddick appeared in John Wick 4.

Lance Reddick appears as Charon in John Wick Chapter 4. Without giving anything away, we can say that his story was concluded in this movie, so even if the franchise continues, there won’t be a need to recast the character. However, John Wick Chapter 4 isn’t Reddick’s final movie in the franchise. Before his passing, Reddick finished filming Ballerina, a spin-off movie starring Ana de Armas, which takes place between the events of John Wick 3 and John Wick 4. Several other projects involving Reddick are yet to be released; the movies White Men Can’t Jump, Shirley, and The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial; the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians; and the video game Hellboy: Web of Wyrd.

In the spin-off movie Ballerina, we will see Lance Reddick as the concierge Charon one last time. In the next few paragraphs, we’ll take a look at other projects Reddick worked on before his passing that will be released posthumously.

The last projects Lance Reddick worked on (that are yet to be released)

White Men Can’t Jump

White Men Can’t Jump is an upcoming sports comedy and the remake of Ron Shelton’s 1992 movie of the same name. Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls are starring in the main roles. Walls is starring as Kamal Allen, and Lance Reddick stars as Benji Allen, Kamal’s father and former coach who has multiple sclerosis (MS). Directed by Charles Kidd II, known as Calmatic, this remake is set to be released on May 19, 2023.

Shirley

Shirley is a biopic movie that tells the story of Shirley Chisholm, an American politician who became the first black woman elected to the United States Congress in 1968. Regina King will play the title role, and Lance Reddick also stars. Written and directed by John Ridley, the movie is now in post-production and set to be released by the end of this year.

Ballerina

The John Wick franchise has spawned four major motion pictures so far, and the franchise will continue to expand with the spin-offs. At this moment, two spin-offs are in development; The Continental TV mini-series and the Ballerina movie, starring Ana de Armas in the title role. The movie will follow de Armas as Rooney, a ballerina who seeks revenge against the murderers of her family.

The movie is set between the events of John Wick 3 and John Wick 4. Apart from Lance Reddick, who reprises the role of Charon, the movie will also feature returning stars Keanu Reeves as John Wick, Ian McShane as Winston Scott, and Anjelica Huston as The Director. Directed by Len Wiseman, the movie is now in post-production, with no official release date set.

The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial

This movie is based on a 1953 two-act play dramatized for the stage by Herman Wouk. It follows the story of a naval officer who stands trial for mutiny after taking command from a ship captain that was, according to him, acting in an unstable way, which put in danger both the ship and crew. Lance Reddick plays the role of Captain Luther Blakely, a chief judge of the court-martial. Directed by William Friedkin, the movie has no release date yet.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Disney+’s adaptation of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians series of novels is one of the most-anticipated projects of the streamer if we exclude Marvel and Star Wars projects. Walker Scobell plays the title role of the young demigod, and Lance Reddick plays the role of Zeus. The series’s first season will consist of eight episodes, and it is set to premiere in 2024. This will be Reddick’s final appearance in a TV project.

Hellboy: Web of Wyrd

A roguelike video game based on the character of Hellboy, officially titled Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, is currently in development by Upstream Arcade. Lande Reddick voices the title character. The game is set to arrive on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The release date is still unknown.

Lance Reddick sadly isn’t with us anymore, but his movies will always remain. We still remember when we watched him as Cedric Daniels in The Wire, Phillip Broyles in Fringe, Chief Irvin Irving in Bosch, and of course, Charon in the John Wick franchise, and these are only some of the numerous roles he played during his long career. We will certainly remember him, and we have no doubt that these last projects yet to be released will be a worthy tribute to this great actor.
