With the debut of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ the DCEU gracefully bows out, paving the way for Gunn’s and Safran’s DCU to take the reins. For the past year, it’s been clear that the DCU will emulate the successful structure of the MCU, with planned phases or “chapters.” The inaugural chapter, ‘Gods & Monsters,’ was announced, with ‘Creature Commandos’ leading the charge. However, Gunn has revealed that ‘Superman: Legacy’ will serve as the unofficial launch of this new era.

One significant transition involves ‘Peacemaker,’ shifting from the DCEU to the freshly established DCU. Gunn has assured fans that ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, already in the works, will seamlessly integrate into the DCU canon, promising a smooth transition and clarity for viewers.

Gunn, known for engaging with fans on social media, recently affirmed on Threads that ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 has been completely scripted.

Despite not being included in the official release slate announced by Safran and Gunn over a year ago, Gunn has repeatedly confirmed that ‘Peacemaker’ is officially part of the DCU.

The confirmation of ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2’s development came in February 2022. Throughout its pre-production phase, the cast remained largely unchanged. John Cena leads as Peacemaker, a government operative devoted to securing peace by any means necessary. Steve Agee portrays John Economos, the overseer of Belle Reve Penitentiary. Danielle Brooks embodies Leota Adebayo, a member of the Suicide Squad. Jennifer Holland stars as Emilia Harcourt, an A.R.G.U.S. agent collaborating closely with the Squad. Freddie Stroma assumes the role of Vigilante, a character known for his brand of lethal justice. Recently, Danielle Brooks hinted at production starting this year, with Gunn suggesting a release after ‘Superman: Legacy.’
