Satoru Gojo is dead. This appears to be the conclusion of Chapter 236 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, as Gojo was cut in half by Sukuna in an unexpected asspull from Akutami. Now, Gojo’s fate will certainly be confirmed in the upcoming chapters. While we’re waiting to see if the popular character is really dead, we will present yet another theory about his possible return, as you will find out whether Kenjaku could help Gojo get back to life.

Theoretically, now that Gojo is dead, Kenjaku could take over his body, just like he did with Geto’s body. But, there are several issues here, and we know that Gojo wouldn’t be back per se but that it would be Kenjaku. We don’t know what Kenjaku could do with a sliced body. We also don’t know if Gojo is too strong to control in such a way. There’s also the issue of whether Kenjaku would even want to do it, as well as the fact that Sukuna would absolutely not allow it to happen in front of him, as it would make Kenjaku too strong.

As we have said in an earlier article, even Gojo might have difficulty recovering from this type of injury, and everything points to him being dead or absent for a while (again). And while we cannot confirm anything at this point, it seems that Gojo is dead at the time. But, it is not set in stone, not yet, at least, and this article will, of course, explain one of the theories that might explain his return in the series. Of course, many spoilers will be present, so be careful how you approach the text in question.

Will Kenjaku take over Gojo’s body?

Not long ago, yours truly hypothesized about possible hints from Chapter 236 that might point to Gojo coming back to the story soon enough, and in short, here are the 15 main reasons that were listed:

  1. It doesn’t make sense plot-wise, as Gojo’s death was a major asspull that destroyed all consistency
  2. Gojo’s said goodbye to his friends in the afterlife
  3. Sukuna did not cut off Gojo’s head
  4. The lotuses
  5. The North-South discussion
  6. Gojo has already survived almost equally devastating blows
  7. Gojo was killed off-screen
  8. Gojo is such an important character that he does not deserve such a death
  9. Shoko Ieiri
  10. Yuta Okkotsu
  11. Gojo’s dad?
  12. No one else can beat Sukuna (let alone Kenjaku after that)
  13. It would ruin the plot, as there is seemingly no smooth way out of this
  14. Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro
  15. Gojo’s post-mortem replies simply don’t make sense, as Gojo is the strongest character

As you can see, Kenjaku is not on this list, but as the topic of this article suggests, using him as a way of bringing Gojo back is quite valid, so to speak. Namely, we did not include it on the list, although we had thought of it because it was not directly tied to Chapter 236, as Kenjaku has not been present for a while, but considering the possibility that Kenjaku could somehow bring back Gojo is quite interesting. How would he do it?

It is, of course, thanks to his Innate Technique. Thanks to it, Kenjaku could transcend through the years by changing his body and, therefore, his identity. One of the many bodies that he took over is that of Noritoshi Kamo, the ancestor (not the present-timeline character with the same name) who managed to become known as “The Worst Shaman in History.”

Around 400 years ago, he possessed the body of an anonymous jujutsu sorcerer, and later, he was also in the body of Kaori Itadori, Yuji’s mother. Currently, he possesses the body of the late Suguru Geto, whose body he took over after Gojo killed the latter in Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

So, as you can see, Kenjaku’s technique allows him to “revive” dead bodies by taking control of them. Of course, Kenjaku takes on these people’s memories and abilities, which makes the deception extremely real. It is impossible to tell the difference, as Kenjaku emits the original owner’s energy, so it is impossible to know that Kenjaku is actually in control of the body.

This means that Kenjaku doesn’t really revive the person in question – although he can imitate them brilliantly – but simply plays the role in question.

So, theoretically speaking, Kenjaku could actually take over Gojo’s body. Still, in this case, there are several issues that we actually have to address to properly explain why Kenjaku taking over Gojo seems unlikely at this point in time.

First of all, there is the issue of Satoru Gojo’s body being cut in half. We don’t know whether Kenjaku can actually take over half a body – he probably could – but it would be useless to do it; he managed to take over the bodies he did because they were whole, and had Gojo destroyed Geto’s body, Kenjaku couldn’t have possessed it. This is why it seems unlikely that Kenjaku would take over half of Gojo’s body.

Also, there is the issue of Gojo’s power over Kenjaku’s. It is not known if Kenjaku’s technique has any limits or not. Still, Gojo is undoubtedly a special case, and it is a question of whether Kenjaku would be strong enough to take over Gojo’s body and abilities even if Gojo had remained in one piece. But, this is something we cannot know at this point in the story, although it is worth discussing it.

What Is Kenjaku’s Exact Plan in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Thirdly, there is the issue of Kenjaku not being present, Sukuna being present there, and all of Gojo’s allies. So, even if Kenjaku arrived at the scene, it is highly unlikely that these characters would allow him to take over Gojo’s body, as they would definitely try to stop him from doing it and would probably be successful in doing it, as Gojo – combining all the powers of Kenjaku’s previous bodies – would be unstoppable.

Also, it is a question of debate whether Kenjaku would even want to do it. He is very calculated, and all he ever does is related to his plans. It is not certain that taking over Gojo’s body would make sense from his perspective, so it is possible that he wouldn’t even do it, even if he could do it.

As you can see, it is theoretically possible. Still, we have listed four solid reasons why it is unlikely that Kenjaku would take over Gojo’s body, so we don’t really think that this is what is going to happen in the future. However, with how the series is heading, we cannot rule out anything, as Akutami could probably surprise us once again with a very strange narrative choice.

Can Kenjaku revive Gojo?

Now that we have provided you with the main answer, we must also answer one additional question here. Okay, we have now established that Kenjaku probably won’t take Gojo’s body, but could he be the one to revive him? Well, it would be ironic and an asspull, as – as far as we know – Kenjaku cannot revive anyone, but we don’t think it could happen in the series. This seems impossible as things stand now, and unless Akutami decides to produce something else out of the blue, that will remain in the future as well.
