Jujutsu Kaisen: Does Todo Get His Hand Back?
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular series of the modern era, and it makes sense that fans want to know as much as possible about the series and its characters. In this article, we will talk about one of the characters, Aoi Todo, a major supporting character in the series. Todo plays a major role in Shibuya when he arrives to help Yuji fight Mahito, but during this fight, he also loses his left arm, which renders his Innate Technique, Boogie Woogie, seemingly useless. Now, we know that people have recovered from various injuries in Jujutsu Kaisen, so will Todo get his arm back in the future? Keep reading to find out!
No, Todo will not get his hand back in Jujutsu Kaisen
We know that Yuji started a bitter clash with Mahito after killing Nanami. While they were more or less on equal terms initially, when Mahito seemingly killed Nobara, Yuji was broken. Mahito used this to beat him to a pulp, and he was on the brink of killing him, but at that moment – Arata Nitta and Aoi Todo from Kyoto arrived to save Yuji. Todo took over the fight with Mahito while Arata fixed up Itadori.
As it happened, Aoi Todo intervened just in time to prevent Mahito from killing the broken Yuji, helping his friend to survive the powerful curse. He caused Mahito a great deal of trouble and vanquished his changed humans, which made things better for both him and Yuji. He also made some incredible maneuvers during that fight, but Mahito managed to touch one of his arms, so Aoi had to cut it off to save his life. His Boogie Woogie was generally useless other than the one time he was able to use it to help Yuji land a strike. He tricked Mahito later on into thinking he would use it, but he never did.
But this bluff allowed Yuji to land another strike on Mahito and win. Mahito was, thus, unable to defeat his two opponents, even though he had Yuji down and Todo without an arm. It wasn’t that Mahito did not want to kill both of them; he did – but he was simply unable to do it. Yuji was soon able to land a powerful Black Flash, which completely broke Mahito, and the battle was over for the powerful cursed spirit. As for Todo, he survived, and he probably healed his wound, but we don’t know much about him in the future since he has not appeared since.
We do know one thing, though – Aoi Todo lost his arm permanently, and he will not be able to get it back. In the next section, we are going to explain why that is.
Why is Todo unable to heal his hand?
Now that we have explained how Todo lost his hand in the first place and revealed that the loss is permanent, we can actually explain why that is. Namely, we’ve seen characters heal in Jujutsu Kaisen – heck, Toji mauled Gojo, and he survived, and there’s Shoko Ieiri, who is exceptionally skilled in healing – so why would Todo be unable to heal a simple hand? There would certainly be a way to do so, right? And while that probably is true, Todo’s situation is quite specific.
Namely, Todo has been attacked by Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration. As fans of Jujutsu Kaisen will know, Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration is specific in the sense that it cannot be reversed. Neither Gojo nor Shoko would be able to reverse the effect of Mahito’s technique, as Mahito’s technique alters the soul itself, which is then reflected on the body as well. So, when Todo’s hand was infected with Mahito’s technique, it was too late for anything to be done.
Todo severed his arm to save his own life, but he was aware that the arm was lost forever, and that is what we can confirm happened.
