Sukuna is the principal villain of Jujutsu Kaisen, as has been evident from the very first episode of the series. And while the manga is currently featuring the seemingly final fight against Sukuna as part of the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, fans still know very little, if anything, about the powerful villain. This is why we at Fiction Horizon are here. In this article, we are going to talk about one of the newer concepts related to Sukuna and his story, namely, the cursed tool we’ve seen him use in Shinjuku after defeating Gojo, as well as another cursed tool he used in the past. What are they, and what is their history? Keep reading to find out!

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Although generally fighting without any weapons in the series, in Shinjuku, Sukuna was seen using a powerful Cursed Tool which was later identified as Kamutoke.
  • The Kamutoke Sukuna used in Shinjuku was a precise replica created by Yorozu. It allows Sukuna to use powerful thunder-based attacks.
  • The Hiten was another Cursed Tool used by Sukuna in the past but not in the present. Its current status, as well as its abilities, are unknown at this moment.

Kamutoke seems to be a powerful cursed tool, but a lot is unknown

The first of the two Cursed Tools is Kamutoke, which Sukuna has used in the present, so we know something about it. The Kamutoke was seen early on when a historical picture of Sukuna appeared. Still, it wasn’t until Yorozu created a replica of the original Kamutoke that we found out what it was.

The Kamutoke looks like a tokkosho (the name for a single-bladed vajra). The central grip of Kamutoke is bordered on each side by a pair of flat hoops that cross at a right angle to create two spheres, and there is a thin, dagger-like blade on one of the sides. So, what does Kamutoke do?

As we can see, Sukuna launched a devastating and incredibly strong electric attack on Kashimo as soon as he obtained possession of Kamutoke. Sukuna said that this strike “took him back,” implying that this is not entirely new to him and that he has before employed Kamutoke or something akin to Kamutoke’s attack. This makes sense, knowing that Kamutoke was one of the two known Cursed Tools used by Sukuna in the past, so it makes sense that Akutami portrayed his first contact with the replica as a trip down memory lane for Sukuna, however morbid it may be.

However, he was startled to learn that Kashimo was immune to electrical attacks as Kamutoke, despite being a very strong and devastating attack, did not injure Kashimo in the slightest; this was due to Kashimo’s own technique. Next, Sukuna was hurt by a counterattack that Kashimo launched at him. However, there was still more. Sukuna utilized his one-time power, Incarnation, to resurrect his previous form in the face of Kahsimo’s skills. This meant that Sukuna would either win or die in this form, with the battle still being held. He would later use Kamutoke to destroy Mei Mei’s birds with a powerful electrical attack.

And that is all we know about the Kamutoke. It has been used by Sukuna in the past, but we are going to provide you with more details on this in the next section, in which we are going to explain Hiten to you and its role in the story.

Hiten is an even bigger mystery to everyone

Now, we have told you what we knew about the Kamutoke, but as we’ve said, Sukuna used two Cursed Tools in the past, and the second one was the Hiten. Unlike the Kamutoke, the Hiten was not recreated in the present, and we do not know its current whereabouts.

As for its appearance, it was seen briefly when Sukuna from the past was seen. The Hiten is actually a trishula-like trident that had a lightly colored cloth near the top, and an exceptionally long shaft. It was probably powerful, but aside from the appearance, we know nothing about it. We do know, though, that Sukuna used it – alongside Kamutoke – to defeat the Northern Fujiwara Clan’s Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad and Five Empty Generals, but also to win against the Desshi Pacification Squad, which was made up of the Abe Clan’s elite fighters (including the Angel) and the Sugawara Clan’s remnants.

Akutami has yet to grace us with more information about the Hiten, so… we’ll see if we’ll find out more in the future. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
