Jujutsu Kaisen: Here’s What Yorozu Gifted to Sukuna & Why! Kamutoke Explained!

Jujutsu Kaisen: Here’s What Yorozu Gifted to Sukuna & Why!

Share:

The most recent chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga have provided us with numerous shocking moments, and Chapter 237, while not addressing Gojo at all (which isn’t so surprising), has provided us with yet another shocking moment, as Sukuna resurrected his original form, thus becoming even more powerful than before. As it seems, Sukuna managed to do it with the help of the Cursed Object that Yorozu prepared for him, and in this article, we are going to tell you what that Cursed Object is and why Yorozu gave it to him.

The Cursed Object that Yorozu created and gifted to Sukuna is called Kamutoke, and Yorozu created it through a Binding Vow moments before she ultimately died. The object was delivered to Sukuna by Uraume via a block of ice, in which it has been trapped. So far, not much is known about Kamutoke, except that it can launch powerful electrical attacks at a target (which Kashimo survived thanks to his immunity to electricity). It is still unknown whether it is connected to Sukuna’s Incarnation. Still, it is probably not, as Chapter 237 only suggests that it is an extremely potent weapon that Sukuna can use.

The rest of this article will be dedicated to the new revelations from Chapter 237 that are related to Kamutoke, the special Cursed Object that Yorozu created and gifted to Sukuna. We are going to explain everything we know about the object using the data we have from the manga, and we will also explain the whole context, as well as some theories that had been popular before Chapter 237 revealed the truth. Of course, major manga spoilers will be present in this article, so we advise you to be careful how you approach it.

Kamutoke is still, in many ways, an enigma, but we know enough to compose a solid story

Okay, this article might be a bit confusing to non-manga fans, as Yorozu, her Cursed Object, and everything we saw in Chapter 237 is an enigma to them. This is why we will start by explaining who Yorozu is and what happened to her in the series.

Yorozu was a powerful, Sukuna-obsessed jujutsu sorceress who had been alive a thousand years ago. She was dead in the present, but Kenjaku used Mahito’s powers to make Tsumiki, Megumi’s sister, into a vessel that Yorozu would use to Incarnate in the present. When she did that during the Culling Game, she immediately went to find the love of her life, Sukuna, which was quite the irony, as the two had to fight.

Namely, Sukuna was always a narcissist, and he couldn’t care less about Yorozu’s love for him because he had a plan. That plan was to kill Tsumiki, which had to do with breaking Megumi so he could be a compatible vessel rather than a cage, like Itadori was. Because of this, Yorozu and Tsumiki both had to die, as Sukuna wouldn’t be swayed by the fact that someone who loved him deeply was inside Tsumiki’s body.

The fight happened with Sukuna ultimately killing both of them, although he wasn’t really overjoyed; despite being killed by him, Yorozu still used her last moments to make a Binding Vow with which she created a special cursed object that she gifted to Sukuna, and this brings us to Chapter 237.

Initially, Uraume appears on a large block of ice from the sky, heading towards Sukuna. And while Hakari appeared to fight Uraume, the block of ice still reached Sukuna, and from it, he drew a strange-looking blade that was identified as the Cursed Object that Yorozu had created for Sukuna with her Binding Vow. Before we explain this to you, we’ll just go back to the past for a moment.

Namely, that Yorozu had gifted Sukuna with a special Cursed Object was known months ago, and before Chapter 237 actually explained what it was, fans speculated about its name and nature. Here are some of the theories:

I suppose this is more of a guess than a theory, but here I go.

Yorozu has served a pretty minor role in the story so far. She furthered Sukunas and Megumis development, but we got more of a backstory for her than we did for Ryu or Uro, so I think it’s fair to assume that this interaction is of relatively high importance.

Narratively, it’s pretty boring if Gojo straight up wins his fight against Sukuna, but it’s equally disappointing if he just straight up loses.

This makes me think that whatever Yorozu gave Sukuna is going to win him the fight at the last second. The most devastating way for Gojo to lose would be mirroring his fight against Toji, allowing him to fail Geto one last time, this time at the hands of Toji’s son.

This also narratively justifies Mai giving Maki the soul liberation blade. Gege never actually explained its CT until he gave it to Maki. He could have just had Mai make a new cursed tool with that effect to give to Maki, but he didn’t. Instead, he set the precedent for the creation CT being used to create cursed tools that were once used by Toji.

I think that gift will play a big role. I think gojo will beat 20 finger muguna and when when sukuna is about to to bite the dust, he will use that cursed object and pull a counter on gojo or flee or somethin.. It can be yuji also and not necessarily gojo as sukuna being the antagonist is bound to be fucked up by either of the two.. Or during gojo vs meguna, gojo might beat up a 15 finger meguna without the intend to kill him in an attempt to bring back megumi. Then sukuna realises that he needs his original body at full power to beat gojo and he might use that cursed tool revive his original four armed body and fucks up gojo…

Just random thoughts….have a good day 🙂

As you can see, fans have discussed this Cursed Object, and now… well, we can say that practically all of the theories have been wrong. Namely, as it turned out, the Cursed Object that Yorozu created for Sukuna was actually the Kamutoke, and it was actually a weapon, as per the events that happened in Chapter 237.

Namely, as soon as Sukuna got his hands on Kamutoke, he immediately fired an extremely powerful and destructive electric attack at Kashimo. Sukuna stated that this attack “took him back,” suggesting that he had used Kamutoke in the past or something similar to Kamutoke or Kamutoke’s attack, which means that this is not completely new to him.

He did not know that Kashimo was immune to electrical attacks, which shocked him, as Kashimo was completely unharmed by Kamutoke despite the attack being extremely powerful and destructive. What happened next was Kashimo launching a counter-attack at Sukuna, injuring him. Still, something else happened – Sukuna used Incarnation, an ability that he can use only once – which means that this is it for Sukuna, he will either win or die in this form – to revive his original form and he did it faced with Kahsimo’s abilities.

And while the outcome of this showdown will certainly be interesting, it is not related to Kamutoke. Kamutoke has only just been introduced, and we somehow think that it will get more scenes in the upcoming chapters, but as far as things stand now, it will probably be a powerful offensive addition for Sukuna and Yorozu obviously gifted it to him to help him win.
