Toji Foshiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen is unique in many ways, and we have already discussed numerous aspects related to him and his role in the story, but this article, while somewhat related to him, won’t actually be directly about him but rather about the Inventory Curse, which was a special cursed spirit that had a master-servant relationship with Toji. We have already discussed this cursed spirit separately, but this article will address one particular scene in which the now-free Inventory Cursed met Geto and called him mommy, also wanting a hug. In this article, we are going to explain what happened there and why the Inventory Curse did that.

The Inventory Curse was a sentient curse with the ability to speak, although it seemed to be quite limited. And while we haven’t gotten an official explanation of this, it can be theorized that the Inventory Curse is useless unless it has someone to store things in it, which is why it was tied to Toji. Also, the Inventory Curse was in a master-slave relationship with Toji for a while, which is why it probably got used to being with someone. Geto tried to absorb it earlier but failed since it wasn’t free, and now that it was free, it saw a new “mommy” in him, hence the scene.

The rest of this article will be about Toji Fushiguro’s special cursed spirit, the Inventory Curse, which is also one of the most interesting ones overall. We will explain what the Inventory Curse is, why Toji used it, how it complements his powers, and how all of that is related to the final scene. Of course, as always, we have to warn you that this article will be filled with spoilers from the upcoming episodes, so be careful how you approach it if you don’t want to know all the details.

It hasn’t been explained officially, but the Inventory Curse probably just needed someone to store things in it

This article will explain the post-credits scene involving Suguru Geto and the Inventory Curse. We’ll detail it later, but first, let us tell you a bit about the Inventory Curse per se, as understanding its role and powers is essential to understanding the scene in question.

The story of the Inventory Curse is mostly unknown, as it is almost exclusively tied to the story of Toji Fushiguro, so we don’t really have any narrative details to tell you, as the Inventory Curse appeared alongside Toji, and while it did not disappear directly with him, its story ended with Toji’s ultimate demise.

So, what does the Inventory Curse do? The Inventory Curse is, as its name suggests, an inventory. Regardless of size, it can hold a particular number of items and even living things. The number of items that can be held inside the Inventory Curse may be limited, but from what we’ve observed, either the limit is quite large, or there isn’t any.

Sadly, we are unable to confirm any of this formally, but we can provide you with our opinion based on what we have seen so far in the series.

Toji has mostly stored weapons inside the inventory curse, as we’ve seen him hold a katana, a knife, and a gun, all weapons that he doesn’t usually carry around with him. He also stored numerous cursed objects, such as the Split Soul Katana, the Inverted Spear of Heaven, and the Chain of a Thousand Miles.

There may be further weapons and cursed items inside, but Toji did not get the opportunity to utilize them during the course of the series, so this is all we have for you. On the other hand, it may also hold additional curses, as evidenced by the fact that many Fly Heads were also kept inside the Inventory Curse, and Toji unleashed all of them to confuse Gojo in their first encounter. The Inventory Curse has also been observed to hold Riko’s body inside of it, but when it was freed, it appeared to be unchanged, proving that it doesn’t actually digest what it consumes.

Some sorcery must be involved in the part of the Inventory Curse’s intestines, as it can hold stuff greater than itself without an issue. This is made even more intriguing by the Inventory Curse’s ability to change its size, which Toji uses to make it smaller before ingesting it to conceal his existence from other jujutsu sorcerers.

When Geto first saw the Inventory Curse on Toji, he was unable to absorb it because of their master-slave connection. Also, it is not killed if part of it is destroyed or sliced off, as was seen after Toji’s second fight with Gojo.

It is unknown how high its consciousness is developed, but the Inventory Curse can talk, and it seemingly has some rudimentary emotions as well. And this segment is pivotal for our scene. Namely, after Gojo killed Toji, it also sliced off part of the Inventory Curse. But, since the head remained intact, the Inventory Curse survived, and soon, we see it slithering in the streets towards Geto, who was shocked to see it. But, what happened later is even more shocking, as the Inventory Curse raised its head to Geto, called him mommy, and asked him for a hug, which left Geto in complete shock.

We don’t know what happened later, as the scene shifted to Gojo retrieving Riko’s body, but this was a bizarre moment that certainly needs explaining.

Why did the Inventory Curse say that? Well… there is the issue of the Inventory Curse being rather useless without someone to use it as an inventory. It seemingly doesn’t have any powers per se, and from that perspective, unless it is used as an appendage, it becomes useless.

Add to that the fact that the Inventory Curse has been in a master-slave relationship with Toji for years, which certainly conditioned it in such a way that it was used to being part of someone. On top of it all, the Inventory Curse had earlier almost been absorbed by Geto, and since it sensed Geto’s ability, probably, it might have seen Geto as a potential new user, it could attach itself to.

As stated, we cannot confirm this officially as Akutami never resolved this officially, but based on what we’ve seen, the Inventory Curse simply needed someone to attach itself to and probably saw Geto as a potential new host. Also, it could very well be that the curse was formerly a child (which would make sense, considering its face is child-like) that died and is now in search of its mother.
