Knull Could Have Elevated Carnage and Gorr into More Powerful Villains – There’s Still Hope

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ premieres today around the world. However, early reviews from critics suggest that the movie is just another average addition to the franchise. Fans were very excited about this film, especially because Knull, the King in Black, was teased.

But as we suspected, the movie’s writer and director, Kelly Marcel, confirmed that Knull won’t be the main villain. He might have a future in the cinematic universe, but it’s still unclear if that will be in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) or the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Recent rumors suggest it’s more likely to be in the MCU, as Knull is expected to be the main villain in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4’ movie. Knull has strong ties to two characters that have already appeared in both the MCU and the SSU—Gorr the God Butcher and Carnage. If these characters were still active in their respective universes, Knull’s appearance could have set them up for a big comeback.

Carnage died in ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ and Gorr made his debut and also died in Thor’s recent movie, ‘Love and Thunder.’ Both films received negative reviews, and fans criticized how Gorr and Carnage were shown, especially Gorr, who was made to seem like a joke.

In the comics, both Gorr and Carnage are supposed to be scary and dangerous villains. Gorr is one of Thor’s biggest enemies, and Carnage is Venom’s main foe. However, in their movies, they only killed a few people and didn’t last long before being defeated.

If they hadn’t died, they could have played important roles in Knull’s story. Carnage could have been a major villain in ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ and Gorr could have met the creator of his weapon in the MCU. This could have tied into Spider-Man’s journey after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Instead, Gorr didn’t become the true God Butcher like he was meant to in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.

Carnage still hopes to return. The character was spotted in a teaser for Venom 3, which has led to theories that he will join the MCU with Knull, and that makes sense. Symbiotes are hard to kill because of the hive mind. They can easily cross even big barriers, including different dimensions, so Carnage could come back in another universe.

As for Gorr, it’s a different story. ‘Thor 5’ is reportedly in development, but it’s unlikely that the studio will revisit Gorr or mention a villain that fans disliked. It seems the studio wants to forget about Gorr, just like we do.

Knull might still connect with All-Black, but Gorr probably won’t return to the MCU.
