‘Lucky’ Episode 3 Release Date and Time Confirmed as Apple TV Series Rolls On

Apple TV’s new crime thriller ‘Lucky’ is moving into its third chapter, and viewers already hooked on Anya Taylor-Joy’s performance as a con artist on the run want to know exactly when the next installment lands. The series, based on Marissa Stapley’s novel, premiered with two episodes and has since settled into a weekly cadence that fans are tracking closely.

With the season building toward its finale next month, here is what has been confirmed about ‘Lucky’ episode 3, along with context on the cast, the release pattern, and where the story goes from here.

Lucky Episode 3 Release Date

‘Lucky’ episode 3 is scheduled to arrive on July 22, 2026, according to Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing for the season. The episode is directed by Jet Wilkinson, with a screenplay credited to Cassie Pappas and Jonathan Tropper.

The series premiered on Apple TV on July 15, 2026, launching with two episodes rather than a single opener. After that two episode premiere, the remaining five episodes are set to release weekly through the season finale on August 19.

That structure places episode 3 as the first of the standalone weekly drops following the double premiere. New episodes of ‘Lucky’ arrive once a week on Wednesdays on Apple TV.

Given that seven episode total, the season is a compact run by design. There are seven episodes in what is now being treated as a limited series, though Stapley is reportedly writing a follow up novel set in the same world, leaving room for more story later.

Apple TV Release Time for New Episodes

Streaming schedules can be confusing since Apple TV’s official release day does not always match when episodes actually become watchable in the United States. Multiple outlets have detailed the platform’s typical rollout pattern for this series.

Even though Apple TV releases new episodes on Wednesdays, the streamer has been known to drop episodes early in the United States, with new episodes typically appearing on the platform at 9 p.m. ET or 6 p.m. PT the night before. That means viewers checking late on Tuesday night have sometimes found the next episode already live.

Other reporting has pointed to an even earlier overnight window. Following the premiere, one new episode is set to be released every week on Wednesday, with the remaining episodes becoming available at 3 a.m. ET or 12 a.m. PT.

Because the exact minute can vary by region and by week, the safest approach for fans is to check the app on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning depending on their time zone. The overall pattern, though, is consistent, a single new episode of ‘Lucky’ every week until the season wraps.

Lucky Cast and Story So Far

Much of the anticipation around ‘Lucky’ stems from its cast, which pairs Anya Taylor-Joy with a roster of established character actors. The credited cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Lucky, Annette Bening as Priscilla, Timothy Olyphant as John, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor as FBI Agent Billie Rand.

Drew Starkey joined the cast in a major recurring role, with Clifton Collins Jr., Mo McRae, William Fichtner, and Eric Lange also part of the recurring ensemble. The show was filmed on location before wrapping production. Filming began in Las Vegas in February 2025, also shooting in Los Angeles, and wrapped in July 2025.

The premise centers on a heist that spirals out of control. When a multi million dollar heist goes sideways, con artist Lucky is forced to go on the run, pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, and she must fight for her life and a way out. That dual pursuit, from law enforcement on one side and organized crime on the other, is the engine driving the season’s early episodes.

Complicating matters further is Lucky’s personal history. The ruthless mob leader Priscilla Matheson, played by Bening, is Lucky’s mother in law, and the story involves the money Lucky took from Priscilla and her former partner Whitaker, played by Fichtner. Lucky is married to Priscilla’s son, Cary Matheson, played by Drew Starkey, whose current whereabouts become part of the unfolding mystery.

Behind the Camera on Lucky

The series draws from a deep bench of television directing talent, which helps explain the tonal consistency across episodes despite the rotating crews. Jonathan Van Tulleken, known for ‘Shogun’, Jet Wilkinson, known for ‘The Testaments’, and Greg Yaitanes, known for ‘House of the Dragon’, each direct at least two episodes.

On the writing side, the season began with a single voice before expanding. Jonathan Tropper penned the pilot before delegating the following six episodes to a writers room. Tropper’s role extends well beyond scripting duties on the project.

Tropper serves as co-showrunner alongside Cassie Pappas, with the series produced by Apple Studios alongside Tropper Ink and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine. Anya Taylor-Joy also carries producing credit on the project. Taylor-Joy executive produces through her own production banner, Ladykiller, in addition to leading the cast.

The show has also drawn attention for its content rating heading into these early weeks. Lucky carries a TV-MA rating on Apple TV, earned due to language, sexual content, and violence, consistent with the physical and gun violence depicted throughout the season.

With episode 3 set to land on July 22 and the finale locked for August 19, the season’s momentum is only beginning to build as Lucky’s past keeps catching up with her present, and it is worth asking how much longer she can outrun both the FBI and her own family before something finally breaks.
