Kevin Feige joined the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore through a live virtual appearance, where he talked about the future of the MCU and shared details about the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps movie next year.

Feige expressed his excitement about finally bringing the Fantastic Four into the MCU. He mentioned that filming will finish next week, and the characters will be featured in the upcoming Avengers movies.

Finally, [we’re] bringing Marvel’s First Family into the MCU. They wrap next week, the movie comes out next summer, and then all those characters go right into the next Avengers movies, so I’m very excited for the future of the Fantastic Four.

The cast and crew of First Steps recently arrived in Oviedo, Spain, to film the final scenes for the movie. While there, Matt Shakman surprised local fans with an unexpected appearance at the comic book shop Hangar Rebelde.

Feige also talked about the 2025 release of Thunderbolts*, which will introduce another iconic team to the MCU. The film stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and David Harbour, among others.

He described Thunderbolts as “what Marvel is all about.”

It’s taking characters from all different types of places and franchises and putting them together. That’s what the Avengers is, that’s what Guardians of the Galaxy is.”

Feige also expressed his excitement about bringing the X-Men into the MCU, revealing that fans can expect to see familiar X-Men characters in upcoming films. He teased that Secret Wars will set the stage for a new era of mutants and the X-Men, calling it a “dream come true” to finally bring them to the MCU.

I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.

The head of Marvel Studios recently referred to Deadpool & Wolverine as the beginning of the mutant era in the MCU. He also took the chance to praise the movie, highlighting one particular moment he’s been waiting for his entire life.

When we first started working on the film for the first time, we wanted to see Wolverine in a yellow costume. I had goosebumps on set when he walked out wearing that costume and put on that mask for the first time. I’ve been waiting 25 years to bring that to life. We were very excited to see Ryan Reynolds bring the R rating to Disney. It was fun — the heart and the humor.
