Michael Keaton Discusses His Return as Vulture in ‘Spider-Man 4’ Following Nonsensical ‘Morbius’ Cameo

Michael Keaton holds a prestigious place in the MCU as Spider-Man’s first major villain, appearing in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. His portrayal of Vulture received widespread acclaim, with the character being recognized for his complexity and relatable motivations.

After Doctor Strange’s multiversal disruption in No Way Home, Keaton found himself in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, where he reprised his role in Morbius. Recently, the actor admitted that he remains baffled by the context of that cameo.

It’s now confirmed that Spider-Man 4 is in development, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing. The film is set to explore multiversal themes, and there are rumors suggesting that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire may reprise their roles.

So, what about Keaton’s Vulture? The actor recently spoke with ScreenRant to address those questions.

Oh, wow. That’s an interesting character, that guy. Actually, I was there for a minute in the second one… That really was fun experience, but I haven’t talked to anybody about anything. [In a joking tone] I try not to talk to anybody. I really don’t like people.

Bringing Vulture back from the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) may pose challenges, but it’s certainly not out of the question. The actor mentioned that even the Morbius team couldn’t provide clarity on his cameo, which means he doesn’t have a significant role in the story.

With Venom: The Last Dance set to introduce Knull, a supervillain with multiversal abilities, the potential for crossover exists.

There’s a lot of speculation about Knull possibly being the main antagonist in Spider-Man 4 and how he could facilitate the transitions of both Venom and Carnage into the MCU.

This scenario doesn’t rule out Vulture, who might seize the ensuing chaos as an opportunity to return to his original universe. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
